The Official 2014 NFL Draft Thread

Tonight's the night folks - time for our favorite teams to go shopping! Giants have to get a stud tight end (Ebron from UNC) or left tackle to keep Eli upright. Lack of protection is one of the main reasons Eli struggled last season.

The big story is "What Will Houston Do"? Clowney or Johnny Football? I'd go with Clowney. Pair him up with JJ Watt, and they'll give Andrew Luck fits the next seven years. Luck's the guy they have to beat to win the division.

Giants select WR Odell Beckham. Makes sense. With Nicks gone, Eli needs a weapon opposite Cruz. Guess they'll address the o-line in round two.

The Browns get Johnny Manziel but trade up from 26 to 22 to get him. I think they were planning on drafting a QB with their second first round pick anyway but figured he would be gone by that time. This was probably more compelling than that Draft Day movie.

Johnny Football to Cleveland at 22. Browns are playing the Ravens opening day. What a welcome to the NFL!

Lions taking a te makes no sense and fills no need. It ain't sexy to pick an offensive lineman, but that was their need.
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Nope. Browns are playing the Steelers opening day. Manziel may or may not be their
franchise qb. Being a Steelers fan I would rather face Manziel than Sammy Watkins.
Sammy Watkins is a matchup nightmare. I wanted no part of it. He has a gear I've never seen in a WR. Never. I'm proud of the state of SC. The two major universities South Carolina and Clemson producing probably the best 2 football players in this year's draft.

I was looking for the Steelers to take a CB round one but I'm glad they have a
speed demon rushing linebacker to rejuvenate the pass rush. Hopefully they will get a Big Nasty D-Lineman and CB on day 2.

Giants picks - outside of Beckham, I haven't seen any of these cats.

Odell Beckham - WR/LSU
Weston Richburg - C/Colo. St.
Jay Bromley - DT/Syracuse
Andre Williams - RB/Boston Coll.
Nat Berhe - S/San Diego St.
Devon Kennard - LB/USC
Bennett Jackson - CB/Notre Dame

I'm ticked at Reese for sleeping on a TE.

am i the only one glad AJ Carron fell all the way down to 163rd or some ish! Can't stand his smug low key racist self. hope he washes out before the season starts.

my Lions should've went D first round instead of a TE, but now Matthew Stafford REALLY has no excuse offensively, adding Golden Tate and now Eric Ebron to Megatron....!

The Brown's new Quarterback didn't look very happy being a Brown. Lots of curses from being on that shitty team. He's one arrogant prick as well.

Just my luck the evil Steelers get more pricks to fill their roster. That team love bitch ass suckas.

Bengals got some good picks. Amen.

Keep in mind, the Browns thought they'd pulled off a similar first round win-win years ago.

In 2007, they drafted a sure-fire high round pick (Joe Thomas, likely headed to Canton) and used a 2d first round pick on a heralded QB who fell from the top of the boards (Brady Quinn).

We all know how that worked out.

Yeah more picks to stump the shit out of the paper champ Bengals. Sorry ass bastards still haven't won a playoff game since the Bush Sr. administration. lol I do have mad respect for AJ Green since he's a baller and he's from Summerville SC.

Well I liken this draft to the one in 2007. The Browns dropped the ball

by drafting Joe Thomas instead of Adrian Petersen and I was happy.

AP would have made some average linemen look good. I'm not saying

Manziel is not going to be good, I just don't think he's going to be

Sammy Watkins good.

I say Thomas was the right pick. If the Browns had taken him, as the Ravens and Steelers were hitting their primes, AP would not have been productive. Left tackles over time have proven to be more valuable, and Thomas is one of the best of the last decade. The Browns would have wasted AP, who went to a much better situation in terms of personnel in Minnesota.

I can see the Browns winning *with* Manziel but I can't see them winning *because* of him.

I know Thomas was a stud left tackle but they already had a decent qb in Derek

Anderson, a good WR in Braylon Edwards, and a decent TE in Kellen Winslow but

AP with those other weapons would have made the Browns playoff contenders. He would

have made those guys job easier. AP is a stud running back period. This guy is automatically an 1000 plus yard rusher period. I one who believe their fortunes would

have been different.

Fair points, but Anderson regressed and Edwards and Winslow self-destructed. Even drafting an All-Universe talent like AP may not have prevented that.

Michael Sam had a reality show deal in the works before he got drafted on the
Own network. His teammates and team officials aren't thrilled with it. He stated that he just wanted to play football. This reality show doesn't help his case.
He better get down to the business of playing football because Jeff Fisher is a
no nonsense coach.
