Mrs. Doubtfire sequel in the works. Mrs. Doubtfire Sequel in the Works 20 Years Later, Mara Wilson, Lisa Jakub Not InvolvedENTERTAINMENTAPR. 17, 2014 AT 12:30PM
Mrs. Doubtfire is checking back in! More than 20 years after the release of the original 1993 comedy film starring Robin Williams and Sally Field, Mrs. Doubtfire 2 is in the works. The Hollywood Reporter reported Wednesday, April 16, that Fox is developing a seque...amily film. Williams, 62, will reportedly star in the follow-up under the direction of Chris Columbus, who helmed the first '90s movie. Field has yet to comment on the flick.
Former child actress Mara Wilson, who starred in the film as the Hillards' daughter Natalie, took to Twitter after the news broke to comment on the sequel. "For the record, no, I do not have anything to do with the Mrs. Doubtfire sequel, nor will I," she wrote. "I've been in some mediocre movies, but I've never been in a sequel. And I have no interest in being in one now."
Wilson, who added that she hasn't been asked to appear in the film said that she doesn't think a sequel "makes sense plot-wise" but added, "I loved being in Doubtfire, and I'm grateful every day I had that experience."
Mrs. Doubtfire 2, which is currently without a release date, is being penned by Elf scribe David Berenbaum. The original 1993 film made $219 million at the domestic box office and won the Academy Award for Best Makeup and the Golden Globe awards for Best Comedy or Musical and Best Actor for Robin Williams.

Why? Just when you think Hollywood can't get any farther from originality. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

i doubt the sequel will be as good as the first film. for some reason movie sequels seem to lose a bit of the original fire. “Transracial is a term that has long since been defined as the adoption of a child that is of a different race than the adoptive parents,” : https://thinkprogress.org...fb6e18544a

1995, maybe. 2015? Pass. That ship has sailed.

maybe.... but like star wars 7 if it is set 20 years latter--with I predict his grandkids dealing with something--he will put out the body sute and make things right. Now how the grandkids would not know that he was in a tv show--no matter how short lived--is a reach. (my brother was on an ep of the Bozo show in like 71 (i was 3) and I have seen the clips (filmed of the tv with a super 8 camera and some still off the tv as well).
anyway there is some hope it could be done well. "Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!"

the first film was great, but I don't know what could possibly happen in a sequel. The kids are all grown now.Generally,I feel that sequels can only happen a few years after the original. When you wait too long,it just seems pointless.

The first one grew on me, but a sequel? Who will the new charges be, the children of the ordinal kids?

Boy, that Mara Wilson is a ray of sunshine, ain't she? We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Gotta agree.
I just don't see the point of a sequel. But then again, I never cared for the first movie anyway.
