I had to pause the video twice because I was dying laughing. Samuel L. was right to give the guy a hard time. Like really? How can you get Laurence Fishburne and Samuel L. Jackson confused? That's just all sorts of wrong....two completely different actors and acting styles.

Samuel L. Jackson is the one who was confused. The reporter was right - Jackson was in a commercial for Captain America during the Super Bowl, which he conveniently forgot.

Here's the storyline for the movie:

the sad thing, imo, is that jackson's misplaced rant makes him look like a racist hater. imo he should have REMEMBERED that he was in a superbowl ad instead of jumping down the reporter's throat over a misunderstanding "what superbowl ad?"

I indicated to Samuel that I'd seen him during the Super Bowl, and he thought that I had confused him with the commercial Laurence Fishburne had done for a car company. Of course a 'Captain America' ad had also run during the Super Bowl --Sam Ruben

okay. granted, he ain't the biggest fool ever. please know i do have great respect for samuel jackson and think he's a great actor and cool dude. and, i guess historically and culturally he has some basis for his rant. it's just, in jumping to conclusions, he ironically became guilty of the very thing he accused the reporter of being: unobservant

I get what everyone's saying...but then why didn't the reporter just say..."Oh no, Sam...YOU are mistaken, I MEANT the Avengers commercial" (or whatever ad he was in)...Why did he even apologize if Sam was wrong?

usually the on-air personality reading the story isn't the same person who wrote and researched it. looks like the on-air reporter might have not been sure which ad actually did air at the superbowl? i don't know, maybe he was too intimidated. maybe he felt he had already made it clear by opening his remark with the words "You're working for Marvel." poor guy. he's being pilloried for no good reason

Like "Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't write this script so I would have never confused you two"...or simply said, "I'm not sure which ad aired, Sam, but I definitely KNOW who you are!" Not like this doesn't happen all the time with Morgan Freeman, Sam, Arsenio Hall, Chris Tucker, Dave Chappell, etc. It's too common to believe he didn't confuse them for real.

And he's not a very good reporter or whatever if he goes on air without researching the subject matter.

the whole thing had the opposite effect on me. imo seemed like sam was just waiting for a chance to go off on someone on this issue.
