I'm done man... since my time here in Westwood i have lived at 2 different apartments.

In 2012 when i was 21 i lived with 2 sub-leasers. One was a rich kid from Beverly Hilla who was going to UCLA for the summer. This dude NEVEER cleaned up after himself. I had to go out of town for a shoot one time. And my other roomie was away for a few days too... homeboy had 4 trash bags, maggets, and flys everywhere. The trash shoot is a 7 second walk away

He also never did his dishes, never did his laundry (He had like 50 pairs of clothes so .. i guess he was ok)

One day when we asked why he never did shit around the house. He said he had maids to do that shit... and he wouldn't go below that


So, here we are in the present time. I have been living with 2 of my friends, and another guy for a year and a half or so. There's spoiled, crazy rotten white boy that lives with us. For 6 months he wouldn't clean his own dishes, wouldn't take out his trash. stole our toiler paper and used our bathroom without asking... when he has his own. His parents came over one day and said how below standard our apartment looked. And he tried to say he tries to keep it tidy

He also broke 7 glasses within a month at our place too. Not to mention 3 plates, a table, and left his weed in the fridge (idk either)

In the summer he also brought these girls over to stay a few weeks. One of them was a hard core Klepto... and stole half our silverware. Also brought strangers from the bar over at weird hours of the night. But... he complains if i have a friend in the house past 11. Because he needs ''quiet time'' Yet those hoes bringing random strangers, having random parties till 3 AM, Smoking weed and doing EX at midnight.

These girls also had a cat... who had fleas... and it spread throughout our house. When they left, they also had some drugs sent to our fucking apartment. 0-0 in the fucking mail! whew we could have gotten in huge trouble for that and when we needed money for the flea incident. My roomie ''didn't wanna talk to them'' so we had to pay naturally.

He also likes to rearrange the house. None of his have an issue AT ALL with the living room. But within a year we have had to rearrange it 6 times cause it bothered him. Then last year around august he established we needed ''rules'' for our apartment. And he wrote down 20 rules on a blackboard, and said we should have monthly meetings. None of us agreed to this... but as ususal we have to revolve around him.

And lord knows i can't say shit too him. The one or two times i yelled at him... he went and told his friends how awful i am. Said i'm an angry body-builder and he was afraid i would kill him so he's sensitive, can't take criticism, and if you yell above a whisper he thinks you will attack him. Oh, he also has threatened to come out and hit us. If we don't quiet down... at 8:00 PM when we are having a conversation. If i said that his pussy ass would probably call the cops

Last week was the kicker though... this fool...just......

I'm barely home at all during the weekdays. And i barely have my computer out as well. I happened to have it out one day, eating lunch and writing some stuff. He went APE shit the next day. I came home and the living room... he took all our tables down. And moved some of the furniture...

When we asked why... cause he triped over my computer chord twice. And because that day he couldn't, you know simply lift up his foot. He thought the entire living room should be re-arranged


Thank Buddha he is leaving in March. But, for serious no more spoiled kids. It's like some of their mamas teach them no lessons on sanity, life, or how to be a good roommate.

Sounds like you like drama in your life guns, I would have less roommates-perhaps you should move in a place that has 1 room mate.

I got a car payment, student loans, gym bill, gas money, cell phone bill, just had to buy new sound equipment for set, food etc. I pay all these on time every month. Living in Westwood isn't cheap either my place even with 4 people is over $800. That's not including utilites and such. Plus we have to pay an extra 50 for inspections every few months.

I work really hard to earn good money. And if i was using most of it on rent... wouldn't dig that.

I have a friend who lives 1 mile away from Graumans Chinese Theater and pays no rent, because he is the landlord. In order to get free rent all he has to do is sweep the common places, collect rent, arrange for repairs to be done, and deal with any complaints-which oddly isn't that many.

He spends a few hours a week doing these things. He sets the time when people can stop by and chat if needed.

Just saying, there are ways. Did I say that he has no roomates!?

He has to put in 3 hours a week (if that). It's a 4 story building has a killer view of the Hollywood sign. He is a web designer. But he doesn't design that much. He has a site that pays him money that he could live off (for basic stuff, food and bills). So, basically he lives like a retired person, works when he wants. The site he operates requires about 15 mins a month to update.

But the main point is; you could do an extra job for 3 hours a week for free rent.

Ohhhh - that sounds like the kind of life I've been aspiring to for the last 5 fucking YEARS or so! - any idea what the URL is? Is it any good?

But to get back to Guns' problem - bro, I know what you're going through - I've had awful people to live with for a SUBSTANTIAL portion of my University life, and I'm pretty sure it affected my work itself, due to which I could've probably done better at my degree! That's serious shit. I hold a grudge against some of those people to this day, and I swear, if I ever have a chance to get back at some of them (in particular one guy who I'd come home to when it was fucking SNOWING outside, to find him fucking his girlfriend so loudly, in such a goddamn creaky bed, that I couldn't watch TV or even be in the TV room in the floor BELOW HIS ROOM!! Strangely she never seemed to be that loud in her reaction, hehehehehe! ), I will.

Today when i was in my room he went on a rampage. Yelling, throwing shit, and screaming at our other roomie. The vaccum had issues... so he went crazy. Then he yelled at the roomie he rooms with to help him take out the trash. Then complained we wern't helping i took out the trash all week then he broke down the table saying the table is trash... and just acted like an asshole. I really wanted to knock hiss ass out.... ugh just... ugh. I'm calm now... but i had to really cool down.

Can't wait till this mofo is gone.

It sounds like you have a lot of people who are living away from home for the first time. I have to admit some of that cluelessness sounds familiar. I was a bad romate for my first few months too... not the richey stuff but the stuff about using peoples' things, breaking glasses and not replacing them... sometimes it really doesn't occur to people that you are not their mom and so the rules have to change.

I would ask for references from previous renters, might help you weed out the first timers.

reading through your first post is the reason i never, ever had a roommate. eons ago, when i went to ucla, i lived in koreatown and my fellow grad students thought i was insane. i didn't have a car, and i would take the bus to westwood for school and work. i had to rely on the bus. didn't have a car, but i had peace of mind. there is no way i would be paying over $800 for rent, and living with some a**hole. no way.

so you had absolutely no home training? i never ever - not at 18, 20, 21 years old - would have ever thought about breaking things and not replacing them, or taking things that weren't mine. but obviously, your behavior was/is more commonplace, given the experience of the author of this thread. i just don't understand it.

Westwood is quite pricy. But, i really love it for the most part. But as bobzilla said... you get kids living away from home for the first time. Or in some cases spoiled rich kids...

I know some homes have nannies and such. But, i assume they teach their kids to clean. For themselves and their future... i could be wrong though koreatown had some pretty cheap places! makes sense.
