What Do You Do To Stay Positive?

I'm trying my best to remain positive each and every single day. Sometimes it's more challenging then i thought... i want to be happy, fun, hard working, trust-worthy, and loving all day every day. Some days you just feel like eek others are smile and some are just nuts dead

What do you do to remain positive and happy day by day?

Im alive... Everyday I can enjoy lifes pleasures... It does no good to be down and moody... One cant enjoy life that way...

Sure, somedays are trying, but focusing on bad isnt good for anything.. Deal with it, get over it, and move on to something happy!

Read the Bible.

God's love for me makes me happy.

Go to church.

My church makes me happy.

Spend time with my family.

They make me happy.

*******************

I read a great interview with former NFL running back Ricky Williams recently. When asked how he lives his life, he said, "Each morning I wake up and think about I could do today that would make me happy. Then I go do that".

Don't forget - we are all human. No one is happy 100% of the time. It's not abnormal to have a down day now and then.

But I just set a new benchpress record, so today is NOT one of those down days!

Like Rodeo said, you can´t be happy all the time. What i´ve learned is to deal with things more relaxed.

Yes, sometimes life is shit, but how you react on that is what makes you happy or not.

Anyway, the more balanced I get, the more happy i get, besides that, lots of gym, meditation, hard work and great sex.

a lot of atheists and God haters on the org, but Jesus spoke the truth when He said that "this joy I give to you the world cannot take it away." that's my prescription, meditate on the goodness of the Lord and all He has brought me through. one can't be thankful and grateful and depressed at the same time, they cancel each other out!

Take care of myself. Eat right, exercise. stay on top of work, housework, etc.

Spend time alone, spend time with my man, spend time with friends and family.

Engage in the hobbies I enjoy (cooking, music, hiking, biking, travel, etc.) and continue to look for new things to learn.

When you've lived with depression most of your life, staying positive becomes a way of life, not just a little trick here and there. It's the sum of everything, really.

When I DO get down I let myself feel down, for a while, anyway. Then I don't let myself dwell in it. Feel it and do my best to move on.

I learned a new trick;

Instead of trying to be "happy" in life, which yields mixed results, I've adopted a new goal of trying to be AT PEACE. I've found that embracing my moods - whether good or bad - instead of hopelessly striving for good and rejecting or anguishing over the bad - I tend to remain calmer and in a better, more positive mindset.

Find at least one thing each day that makes you laugh out loud.
It might be something funny that was posted on Facebook.
Maybe a cartoon in the newspaper.
Or even something you dream up yourself.
If you are able to laugh sometime every day, you'll be alright.

I think about how things could be much worse. I'm thankful to be alive and able to provide for myself independently. Overall, I'm happy with my life. Everyday, I'm not going to be happy or positive. Sometimes I can be moody and down, but that's just life. I don't know anyone who is happy everyday, all day.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I meditate and inquire at the same time. I believe that my natural state is happiness and peace so I just need to rest in that and allow all energies and sensations in my body to be there. They are like clouds they will just pass on through. I try not to run from "negative" thoughts and emotions/sensations. Running from them only keeps them there.

When i was a teen and up until the age of 21. I always had a self defeatist attitude. I always thought bad about my self, the ultimate pessimist! I went through a buddhist period, i learned much from it. but I still felt bad. I hated looking the in the mirror and if i did it would ruin my whole day. I would constantly worry about my weight and whether i was ever going to have a romantic partner.

Last year, I realized that no one thought negatively of me but rather i was the one creating this fantasy about myself. I realize you have to force yourself happy by yourself. You have to be happy with what you have and then move a long. if life is about sufffering overcome it and move on.

One step forward.

Im not going to tell you follow anything, just follow yourself, and if it don;t harm anyone then its cool.

I don't dwell on things that don't serve me well. I like to live in the now. Which is funny, because someone will bring up something I've accomplished in the past and I have completely forgotten I did that.

Be appreciative...of everything, "good" and "bad." Find the humor in things as well. Laughter calms me. I can make myself laugh in almost any situation...and I've been through some truly bad ones.

Be reflective as well...so many moments in my life I can look back to and say "If can survived that, I can survive anything."

It also helps that my mother is the world's most positive, optimistic person God has ever created love2...so staying positive is part of my DNA.

I go for long walks
I write poetry
I look at photos of my kids
I paint and draw - scribble even
I listen to music I luv
I call family or friends 4 support
I pray for guidance
I reflect

But most of all..... I think about the very low moments from my past and realise how far I've come and just thinking about how bad things were for me keeps me strong and positive because I survived it all!!!!

I just remembered: Dance!

A wise man once told me the secret to starting off every day feeling GREAT is to dance first thing in the morning. All you have to do is play a song and shake your booty for 30 seconds or a minute.

I promise - you will INSTANTLY be put in a great mood!

(Hint: Don't dance in the shower.)

Go to the movie theatre to see a couple of movies, don't know why but it has an uplifting affect on me being in the theatre.

Go to Cabrillo Monument, look out over the city, and the ocean.

Go out and enjoy the sunshine. Enjoy the stars in the evening.

Talk about stupid stuff with friends.

Cook something unusual.

Also, one excellent thing to do that really does brighten your spirits and center you spiritually: volunteer.

Physically volunteer somewhere that it's needed. Doesn't even have to be the standard homeless shelter/soup kicthen types of places. You can volunteer in California to spend a few hours a week with abandoned pets, just giving them love--man, are they ever appreciative mushy (you go to them). Every Saturday a nearby church hands out food and household supplies to people who need some assitance getting by...you feel really good afterwards, and all you did was help the church bag up stuff and hand them out. But you're actually seeing someone firsthand being helped, and you get a lot of "thank you's"...it's a reminder that it's not just you, and it's not just them. It's all of us, together.
