Right but that was Mo's regular method..."Pay me!".....LOL...I'm glad she didn't campaign for any of the awards she won but when they asked her to appear @ the Toronto film Festival she wanted more than was already offered...Oprah had to have a "come to Jesus" moment with her..Mo' promoted the film all over the place but expecting to be paid for every appearance is not reality. Most talk shows will pay for airfare and hotels but REFUSE to give a Celeb a Phat check for sitting on their couch.

Well you said your peace about films telling the story of "Black slaves". You also said your peace about "The Best Man Holiday"...No one got mad at you or questioned you...This is an open forum...I simply said my peace about things that were discussed in this thread.....We don't have to agree with each other's opinion but it is what it is...

I know that this is an open forum to discuss topics, in which we were discussing movies, award nominations, etc, but you gave an irrelevant statement regarding the race of the spouses of actors. Again, that judgement call has nothing to do with the discussion at all. It's cool to give your "peace" about things as we all are free to do, but you also have to be willing to take it when someone disagrees with you as well. As you read back, you can see that Timmy disagreed with my view but it was all good. I have no problem at all with someone who disagrees with my view, but I do have a problem when folks start judging the personal preference of folks that they've never met. Sorry you are taking my comment personal but this is the org after all...if you can dish it, you have to be able to take it. Hope you have a great day.

Has Oprah made any statements about being upset over the so-called snub? I really don't see her bothered by not being nominated. Again, the woman is a billionaire. It would be awfully hard to slap a billionaire in the face. The woman has dozens of awards already. Unless she has stated she does, I really don't think she gives a rat's behind about a Golden Globe. I know I wouldn't. Then entire film was snubbed by the Golden Globes. This was not Oprah's film. She only had a supporting role in it. Lots of black actors and actresses have been snubbed by the Golden Globes and will continue to be. The Golden Globes and Academy Awards mean nothing, especially when it comes to black actresses. Doesn't Monique have both? How many movies have we seen her in since her wins? I read an interview with her where she was asked had she been bombared with scripts since the wins and she said, "Not even one". So, except if you are maybe Halle Berry, a Golden Globe or Oscar for a black actress don't mean jack! [Edited 12/17/13 6:51am] "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

Thank you! Lest us not forget that some actors/actresses accept projects specifically to get these awards where you have a vast majority of actors/actresses who could care less about what awards they receive and pick their projects based on what they love doing in the first place: ACTING! If you think Oprah doesn't care about not being nominated for a Golden Globe Award.Your sadly mistaken! Oprah secretly wants to be a in demand actress. She auditioned for "Doubt" starring Meryl Streep. The role she auditioned for went to Oscar nominated Viola Davis. Oprah wants to be recognized as an actress also. Rae Dawn Chong revealed months ago how Oprah was networking herself with anybody important on the set of "Color Purple". Also I seriously doubt Mo'nique(who I worked with) hasn't been offered any scripts. Just none that she was interested in! Plus she chose to do a talk show instead of pursuing and going foward with an acting career... will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! I'm sorry, but I just have a really hard time believing, unless she's totally insane, that Oprah Winfrey, one of the richest, most accomplished women on earth and in history (and probably THE richest, most accomplished black woman), who has her own network and who is a household name around the world, is obsessing over wanting to win a Golden Globe Award. We can speculate all we want and use second hand gossip from 1984 from a has-been actress (Rae Dong Chong? I didn't even know she was still around) but only Oprah knows for sure whether yet ANOTHER award is important to her. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

Rae Dong Chong came out and criticized Oprah a few months ago for being "fat & ugly"! She called the Queen of Media "a great brown-noser,a "field n---er"and a "total bee-yotch"..... will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! Well, that leaves Rae Dong's credibility at a big fat ZERO. No one with any dignity and self-respect would have publically said such hate-filled things. Sounds like Dong's is very jealous-hearted and green with envy at Oprah's power and world-wide success and her apparent lack of it. [Edited 12/17/13 17:56pm] "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! Exactly...oprah told Chris Rock in 2011 that she'll do Broadway when the right script comes her way and if she has the time. You can tell that Kit is ONLY looking @ Oprah the GIANT "Why would a Giant like Oprah want an Oscar or Golden Globe?"....When Prince was nominated for an Oscar he was hoping he'd win and that's part of the reason why he attended the ceremony. ***************************************************************************** I Love Mo'nique to death but her deal with BET went South cuz she wanted more money and they were already paying her $2 to 5Million a year. That is good money for CABLE. She walked away from late night now she wants to be a Daytime Talk show host. She co-hosted "The View" for 2 days in 2009...She brought "the funny" & "the Class & the Beauty" but will her "Daytime formula" work? Big Mouth Wendy Williams, Ellen, Dr. Phil all have "formulas" that work and will keep them on the air a long time. Queen Latifah had her first Daytime show back in 2004 and it flopped right off the air...She's BACK in Daytime one'mo-gain and I don't see anything different. I'd like to see Mo'nique in more roles. I follow her on Twitter and all she ever talked about was her online radio Gig, Touring Comedy Houses and her possible talk show-deal. [Edited 12/18/13 4:05am]

Once again that's YOUR opinion. I feel my opinion about their personal lives was very relevant to my entire posting. I would not have said a word about "The Best Man holiday" had you not brought up the movie. You opened the door and I walked through pimp-walking like George Jefferson...BOOM...LOL...

Chiwetel Ejiofor & Idris Elba had 2 Acting nods a piece and went home with NOTHING... ********************************************************************** I was VERY surprised Matthew McConaughey beat out Chiwetel for "Best Dramatic Actor"...I have not seen "Dallas Player Club" but the critics say Matthew is brilliant in it. *********************************************************************** Kerry Washington went home with nothing like always... ********************************************************************** Don Cheadle went home with nothing. ********************************************************************** 2 minutes before the 3hr show was over 12 Years a Slave BARELY won "Best Dramatic Picture".. ************************************************************************* The Oscar nominations will be announced by Thor(Yep, that guy) on Thursday..If my Oprah doesnt get a nomination I'm taking a group of people to the Kodak Theatre on Oscar night and we're gonna sing "God is trying to tell you something" very LOUD....

The Butler is a good movie but not that good, it's overscripted, clichéd in many scenes, it's just like any other Lee Daniel's flick. You can't nominate that when you have 12 Years a Slave.

I agree with them not nominating him for this. Im not sure if its the writers fault (since Lee Daniels directed but didn't write it) but but this film just lacked the subtleties that it needed IMO to take it from being a good film to a great one. My immediate reaction after watching it was that it was too black and white, too generic in a sense. The other films on the list were great films. The Butler I dont see as a "great" movie. I also had mixed feelings about his previous movie The Paperboy. Change it one more time..

I would like to see them concentrate of the other aspects of slavery, and not just the brutality of it. There has yet to be a film made on, "The Underground Railroad", or Harriet Tubbman in general. Maybe it's because, it's not as exciting as seeing our people being whipped and raped. As for "The Butler", while it was a good film, aside from great acting from Forrest, the film was just ordinary. Oprah is not an actress, so for her to be nominated for that role, would have been an injustice to those whom I thought, deserved it more....
