binge watching For those of you who catch yourself a show and get attached, when u end up binge watching some of it, how bad does it get? Netflix, hulu, on demand, etc. are all aids in this. Any records or tremds.? When season 6 of breaking bad was on, I went through 5 seasons of it in about 9 days if i remember. I just recently went through all 5 seasons of six feet under in about a week. Before then it was scandal and the good wife. Its sad...but my unemployed ass can really power through some t.v. am i at the extreme end of this spectrum or am I a rookie? Ive tried the walking dead and just can't do it...the foolishness of people getting caught by things that could be out run by Christopher Reeves is so frustrating it overrides and good aspects. I love star trek(binged on some franchises) and battlestar Galactica... But just can't do Stargate. So what do u think helps a show be bingeable? Norwegians(I think) have a national trend of 'slow TV'...knitting(from shear to wear) train rides, boat trips...looong 100+ hour marathon sessions. Would this maybe promote binge watching in the u.s. or elsewhere if introduced? Mostly...I'm trying to hear others binge watching habits so I dontbhabe to feel so guilty about mine....

I have friends who can watch one or two seasons of a TV show on one weekend.
I still haven´t watched the last two or three episodes of The Walking Dead ever since I got back from my vacation (I watched the first new episode there and I usually watch two or three episodes back to back).
Back when I was watching LOST I had to catch up on many, many episodes, and when I had the chance to watch those that I had missed out on, I watched so many episodes that I had to stop myself. Really loved that show, still do, regardless of how it ended (and I actually liked how it ended ....unlike most folks who hated the final episode).
These days, I kind of a slow watcher due to work related obligations. Simply can´t watch shows the way I used to. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

Shows I still have to watch or would like to start watching (got some of them on DVD, birthday gifts....whole seasons actually, so I´m looking forward to watching them when time allows):
30Rock The Sopranos The Wire
Have lost track at some point but would like to catch up if I could: Californication Nip Tuck Sons of Anarchy Battlestar Galactica
Yeah I know, I´m late. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

I usually watch 4 to 6 hours of tv on a weekday night (which often is only new episodes that air that night) and then about 6 on Saturday and Sunday each. I've only succeeded in 10 episode marathons a couple times in my life and it made me feel burnt out on TV altogether. Because of this I often miss Saturday Night Live and watching movies can be difficult. Watching only one episode of a particular series a day makes it easier than marathoning one show at a time for me.

we just ploughed through Mad Men and ARRRGHHHH now it's over... we also just finished season 1 of Game of Thrones in about 4 days... A working class Hero is something to be ~ Lennon

Star Trek, cause I don't have all of them, and I've seen I missed so much, and now a lot of things I've seen and read make sense.
StarGate I own all 3 series I think I know every single episode by heart.
I'm currently going through The Wire. Went through Treme, I must own. Game of Thrones, buying.

I binge watch too, I usually do 1 disk at night. I am in love with sitcoms. So, I watch almost all the major sitcoms of the last 60 years. 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

Well, if you really want the king of "binge TV watching", then '24' it is... via Netflix. Possibly the greatest serial drama ever made. . I've recently gotten addicted to 'Lost' (on Netflix). J.J. Abrams' shows really have this effect... 'Alias' was like that too. 'Fringe' is structured differently than the above shows, simply due to its' episodic approach (as opposed to serial)... so it's not as addictive. His latest show, 'Revolution', goes back to a serial approach. . ~G [Edited 11/11/13 14:08pm] "He's a musician's musician..."

Ive tried to like 'lost'...3-4 times...and can't...I unno why. I had a disdain for its popularity in its hey day and I think the residue of that is still thick, while 'six feet under's' thinned out a bit. I got about 5 episodes into fringe and it was just too kooky...I couldn't hang. Beep.. ... ... ..beep.. ... ... ..beep.. ... .. ...beep... ...beep.....beep.. ....beep.. ...beep...beep...beep.beepbeepbeep. [Edited 11/11/13 14:55pm]

I never watch more than 2 episodes a day of any show. I find when I watch hour after hour it dilutes the power of the show. My DVD is filled to 75 percent most of the time so I always have tons of shows to catch up on. In fact it crashed last month & I lost all these shows I'd been working up to.

I watched the entire first season of Downton Abbey (which I totally slept on because I was doing a play when it aired) in one day - a few days before the second season was supposed to start. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I did the whole of Breaking Bad in about 10 days too! Had to force myself to stop watching and go to sleep when the sun started coming up on a couple of occasions Music, sweet music, I wish I could caress and...kiss, kiss...

I didn't get hooked on The Walking Dead when it first aired...it wasn't until I saw a marathon of season 1 and the first part of season 2 that I got hooked and have been watching ever since. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I binge watch detectives every day. 99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

. I never knew it was popular, 'cause I missed it in its' heyday... I admittedly love the context: stranded on an island, but it goes very deep and very far beyond, so to speak. "He's a musician's musician..."

first BobGeorge: please be kind to delete the Christopher Reeves joke.
and 2nd: love it! I watched the walking dead and breaking bad! Now i am on Dexter. I want to watch some others too!
It is fun and addicting to watch 3 or 4 back to back!
I also watched the original eps of "Arrested Development" loved it! the new ones seemed to lack the same magic.
Watched the first 3 seasons of Weeds...then it got dumb.
"Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!"

Aside from TWD...I agree with ya. Weeds especially. It was good thennitnjust got all wacko. With dexter...u can finish with the end of season 5...it just gets dumb. But if u have time to on kill, go ahead and finish...ud be 5 out of 7 episodes deep...might as well finish it out if time allows for it. And bruh...its just a joke. Kudos to the late Mr reeves. Despite what he's been through..his accomplishments and hard work allow him to out pace those threats. its an insult to those that the walking dead catch is what it is. Mr. Reeves accomplished a lot...and put a spotlight on a health concern that deserves more of a focus. He also demonstrated to others with similar issues and life doesnt cease with that degree paralyzation. Im certain one pop reference doesn't undercut all of that.

GoT is HBO...right?b their directtv-on demand service and HBOGo are obscenely comprehensive. Including all of OZ and the wire...all of their series and docu's r included in HBOGo...available in apple and android and roku has well, As long as u have a current subscription. Except HBOGo and direct TV and roku don't mix. A direct TV subscription to uno doesn't earn u access to HBOGo on a roku....which is fine really...with how comprehensive direct TV's HBO on demand is. The Vampire Diaries. They got me.

I can't do it. I did it once when I rewatched a season of Mad Men and it didn't have the same impact as when I first watched the episodes spaced apart. I like some time in between to appreciate each episode on its own. So when I do watch old seasons of TV shows now, I limit it to one episode per day at the most.

I just binged through two reasons of Pramface on Hulu/bbc. It wasn't great but it was entertaining. I love when Brits curse...they're so good at it. I'm working on Whites now.

I feel ya....sometimes letting the plot simmer and stew for a week thickens the flavor.....really...it always does. When i go...i go big tho. My life is ruled by the lays motto. X...coke...joints...cookie...nuts....nutts... I guzzle coke...don't sip. Fuck beer...hard liquor for me. I smoke phat bowls...not just bowls. I cant have one ding dong...i need two. Its a fault of mine I work on. I need to learn to limit myself...especially my destructive type behaviors. I guess it even translates to TV habits....

Some vampires catch my attention, some don't, I couldn't tell you what the element is that makes the difference. I blame Anne Rice, she did it, evil woman. Besides I just finished up ST: Enterprise on Netflix I needed something else to fill that spot. It's bad when you start these kind of habits. Now Fringe keeps popping up in front of my face, I'm really trying to resist. Where was I when these show were actually on tv? I think I'm impatient, I want to know what happened next and I want to know NOW. This works best for me.
