Kate is not "fat" - there's still lots of fluids in the enlarged uterus

It's simple biology. Much of what's in the uterus is not the baby, but the fluids and the placenta that support the baby. The placenta itself weighs several pounds and is as large as a liver. After the baby and the placenta are delivered, there's still lots of blood and fluids in the uterus, which will be expelled as the uterus continues to contract over the next weeks down to the original size of a pear. It can take as much as 6 weeks. Geezus, it took 9 months for the uterus to stretch that big; people think the muscle shrinks back in 24 hours, squeezing all that liquid out like a fire hose??

She looked amazing for 24 hours postpartum - her legs, arms and face are obviously not fat, despite water retention (a woman pees a ton and sweats more over the next several days too as the body sheds water weight).

People are so ignorant and also mean.

Just had to vent.

I gained 20kg with each pregnancy, on day of delivery I'd lose 10kg - baby, placenta, amniotic fluid, then over next week or so all the retained fluid goes away. I breastfed and over next 6 weeks lost the remaining 5kg and by the time kids were weaned I'd lost another 5kg. It doesn't all fall off ok day of delivery!

Celebs eat like crazy when they are pregnant because they are suddenly given permission and then are way overweight and have to diet and workout, but they shouldn't so soon post-partum while ligaments are still loose and soft.
You need loads of calories to breastfeed - not a time for restriction.
I'm the mistake you wanna make

You got that right. It kills me how people will find anything to hate. Kate looks great for just delivering an 8 lb baby.

People are saying she's fat? hmm They've either never had a baby or ever been around someone that just had a baby. It takes 9 months to grow a child. That belly isn't going to just disappear in a day! lol

Except for the tummy (which is to be expected), I don't think she looks like she was pregnant, at all. She's one of those lucky women for whom it was "all baby" – no huge weight gain.

That's not what I was saying. rolleyes

Some women just "carry" all out in front. When my mom was pregnant, you could never tell she was pregnant from the back. Kate looks to be one of those (lucky) women.

http://www.thecivilian.co...eally-fat/

she was never pregnant, according to a very reliable source:

The entire Commonwealth is experiencing disappointment today after the Duchess of Cambridge and wife of Prince William, Kate Middleton, revealed that, for the past six months, she has not been pregnant, but just really, really fat.

William didn't even want to have sex with her, and you have to have sex to have a baby...soooo....

When asked why this was, William said he was no longer interested in having sex with Kate because she is “just so fat.”

“Women look a lot different when they’re naked, don’t they?” he added.

I love it they are so open about this issue with everybody!

And if she did get fat... then so what?!! Why do so many people have an issue with people being fat?

Good grief!!! People need to stop projecting their bullshit on other people. I mean really! Let Kate have a post partum belly and let her be happy.

And the media contribute to that in a big way. Regarding people who criticise others; it says everything about themselves, how they see the world and how they are being treated - or think they are being treated.

I think Kate looks fantastic. She just gave birth 2 days ago for god's sake.

Speaking of giving birth, where has that media whore Kim K been since she gave birth? Is she that vain that she can't show herself until she's lost all the weight? She is a fake person all the way around. ill

My mom had a flat stomach after two, as well. After four? Not so much. lol

I do not envy Kate... I would have to slap somebody. lol

Its one thing to talk about fashion choices because its just clothing, but to pick apart someone's body? Its just too much...

but it seems she will be back into her original form in no time so folks can stop talking about her body.

I am glad her son is healthy and she is doing well.

Agree with you that it doesn't matter if she got fat or not, but... She didn't get fat! Like Genesia said, she's all tummy, which is just her enlarged uterus, and which simply does not shrink back within 24 hours; it takes at least a week and up to 6 weeks to contract back to pear size.
Yes, it doesn't matter, but if people are critical of her for not being totally flat after birth, there's no hope for the rest of us!

I don't care either - but it's hard to avoid knowing about her and the birth, and then I saw some of the stupid reactions to her post-partum figure (first on Chelsea Handler, then other places).
It's not that she matters so much to me, but that people are so ignorant about women's bodies and so critical of women's bodies in general.
If SHE's considered "fat" and not perfect enough, what does not mean for the majority of normal women out there?
And btw, very disappointed that another woman like Handler would criticize or make fun of Kate's figure.
I just wish expectations of women's bodies/appearance were closer to reality.
