Since I've been on the org, I've mentioned some of the crazy, violent things that Ive experienced in life. One of the things that i never mentioned though is the time i shot myself in the thigh with a 22.caliber gun.

This was back in 1984, when i was about 16. My step dad used to hunt so he had a lot of guns lying around the house. Anyway the story is long but ill make it somewhat short. I discharged a gun and shot my damn self in the upper left thigh.

What i remember about the bullet interring my thigh is it burned really bad. The bullet was really, really hot but i don't remember it being extremely painful (a few days later it hurt like heck). After i realised that i shot myself, i started limping to the telephone in the front room(i was in my bedroom in the back of the house) to call 911, but my leg gave out and i fell to the floor. I managed to get up and call 911.....

I was in the hospital for about 2 days. The funny thing is the bullet didn't exit my thigh. The hospital felt it was better to just leave it in there and that's what they did( which later i found out was negligence). The bullet stayed in my thigh for about a year and a half, until it started irritating my leg and causing pain. I went to a clinic and the doctor just made a Small incision and popped the bullet out.


Now you can barely see the entrance wound. In the back of my thigh there's a small depression type hole but other than that, I'm good.

I was lucky that it was such a small caliber bullet, and that my hand was about a foot way from my leg and that the bullet didn't hit my groin area. I could have bled to death.

There's more craziness to the story(attending hospital nurse on PCP, me being charged with a crime 4 gun incident)but ill leave it as it is.



Anyway one or my aunts shot herself in the stomach with a 38(she died)and another one of my aunts GOT shot in the lower back by a jealous, alcoholic, crazy woman, also with a 38. She made it but 30 plus years later and the bullet is still in her back.


All things considered, i much rather get shot than get stabbed.
