Are crocs still fashionable?

I'm going to the Bahamas this weekend and I'm looking at shoes I can wear on the beach and still walk the streets These black crocs seem nice because they have the holes on top for water /ventilation. My question is-- do people still wear th outside of hospital employees ?

I will risk my cool card and confess that I've always kind.of.liked.Crocs. lurking That said, they are to footwear what Vanilla Ice is to hip hop. Your dignity would be better protected if you simply invest in a good pair of mesh water shoes or sandals.

This.

Crocs were never fashionable. They were OK for children, or if you're out doing work in your garden. That's about it.

I'd rather see a man in flip flops than crocs any day. Flip flops are made for the beach. If you're doing a stroll before or after, you generally look like you're going there or coming back so it's OK.

Well I have the aqua mesh shoes but they have like no support in them and I consider them water only shoes. I have flip flops but if I'm walking a long distance they aren't comfortable

Young men here wear bright colored crocs.

A lot of the 'indie' looking guys here--essentially Thai hipsters will wear pink crocs.

It looks cute. shrug

I wouldn't wear them, but hey--they're better than hair scrunchies.

I'm actually turned off by anyone, especially men, over the age of 30 wearing Doc Martins with the yellow strings.

I like Dr. Martins. But, seriously--they sell them with black strings with more 'adult' styles, you know.

Give up the ghost already.

One of the great details of Idiocracy was that he was given Crocs to wear. lol

They are and have always been silly looking. But if you like them, then wear them! If I want to wear black socks and flip flops, I'm gonna

But I have something like this, which has ventilation and is made to be worn without socks (though I usually just wear socks) and also to get wet.

Crocs are for private use only. Like house-shoes. Unless you are a little kid.

I swear by these flip flops right here:

they even have the support you're looking for...

I bought a pair in Hawaii in 2006 and they're still going strong, they just last and last...

I went shopping with someone who was wearing Crocs today. I tried on some shoes and she said they looked like clown shoes. I said "but you're wearing crocs!" Fortunately she laughed.

this is just my 2c, and keep in mind i am not a fashionista. heck yeah! wear the crocs if you like them. they are comfortable, full on rubbery plastic all terrain shoes. socks, no socks, either way crocs are fun, easy to keep, and perfect for beaches and streams. no laces, no straps, no velcro. just slide them on and go! in fact, go ahead and buy those little croc plastic thingies which you insert into and decorate the holes with. you can have teensy flowers, frogs or bears growing from your crocs. such fun.

Or in a nursing home. Or a mental institution.

Crocs have never been fashionable. In fact, they are a perfect example of anti-fashion.

Ok, I HATE the Croc clogs ill HOWEVER... Crocs do sell other styles of shoes that are considered comfortable (and look better).. I will confess, that I have 5 pairs of Crocs brand shoes (2 pairs for work and 3 pairs of sandals- NO CLOGS) despite my initial disdain for the brand. They are just too damn comfy boxed

If you will, so will I

wear what you want

having said that though... i've never thought that "crocs" and "fashionable" belong in the same discussion

people say they're comfortable.... i'll never know

For me it depends where and why you are wearing them

I have a pair of these with leather on them, I don't go to Art shows work or chill spots with them, but will wear them to a book store to the park or sitting in my garden

They have always been ugly suckers, but I say wear what you want and fashion be damned. If you're going tp be walking distances on sand and in water, I guess they are the best bet for comfort and practicality. Why risk your feet to be "fashionable?" Like another poster mentioned, there are other styles that look better and serve the same purpose.

I know, I know sad .... I still don't love that particular shoe, but I only now know the value of comfortable walking shoes after one too many long walks in bad footwear lol

If you will, so will I
