Nik Walenda- Sky Walk Has anyone been watching this? Nik Walenda is going to walk a tight rope 1,500 feet high across a portion of the Grand Canyon tomorrow. * http://skywire.discovery.com/ * He's doing it without a safety harness or net. I'm not really into dare-devils. I don't like to watch people do something that could kill them, but The Discovery Channel was airing a 2 hour special this evening leading up to the actual walk airing tomorrow, so I watched a bit. * * Holy Crap that shit is AMAZING! I watched him walk between two high rise hotel towers. The tight rope is just that, a tight rope. It is anchored and there are people tethered to it to keep it from sagging, or swaying. He has to walk slowly and deliberately, but when the camera pans wide, it looks like he's walking on air! He's a tiny little figure WAAAAY UP in the air and it looks like he's walking on air. It's very cool! * * I still don't know if I can watch tomorrow. It's too nerve-wracking to me, but I sure do wish him success! I'm firmly planted in denial | |

Still in negotiations with the Discovery Channel. It's going to take a few more zeroes on the check but the Captain is going to do what he can to make "Mastering Captain's Rod" a reality.

I couldn't watch it either. I didn't want to see if the worst happened, also, True Blood was on. Now that I know how the walk turned out, I'm watching the re-airing. * The announcer just said it is "the Superbowl of stunts."
