Movies with bad acting

When was the last time that you watched a movie, and the acting really struck you as BAD.

Not just bad, I mean "suddenly-realize-that-I'm-watching-a-scripted-performance" bad?

Recently (as my FB friends can attest) I was watching "Back To The Future"...my kids love those films. Suddenly I realized that I really can't STAND Michael J. Fox's quirky acting. He spent the whole movie either in a state of being "startled". The WHOLE DAMN MOVIE.
hammer Is it just me?

Also...

I caught a bit of a movie called "4:44 Last Day on Earth" with Willem Dafoe.
hmm
He was horrible. There was one particular scene where he's standing on a rooftop, and I suddenly was no longer engrossed in the film but rather it was like watching an actor on a stage.

shrug

So what about you?

What movies have struck you with really bad acting?

I just saw the end of "Se7en" again, you know with the Fedex box. And compared to Freeman and Spacey... Pitt seemed to be showing off some really bad unconvincing acting there at that intense moment.

I was shocked by how bad it seemed.

YES! I just watched it on cable the other night, and I texted my friend to ask if it was just me. She texted back, "It was awful."
And YES! lol

Also, I never got the appeal of Sandra Bullock.
Whether she's careening down the street in a runaway bus, undercover in a pagent, or hanging with a big football player, she gives the same flat performance. rolleyes

Yep. I kind of thought he was decent in Tree of Life, but that's it. He always seems aware of the camera, so I can't believe him, even if he's being funny or weird or cool.

War of the Worlds=Tom Cruise. Such a false performance.(As he gets older he doesn't grow as an actor, he just gets worse.)

Basic Instinct 2 =Sharon Stone. Campy in a bad way. I think she was experimenting with some scenes, probably via direction from the director, and the director did her a great disservice and put the crappy versions of those scenes in the film.

Anything with Madonna.

Really? I'm not going to argue that his performance pales in comparison to Freeman and Spacey, but that scene at the end was convincing to me when I saw it.

hmmm

Maybe I need to watch it again.

I think she's good in those romatic comedies.

i have to pass. here's the thing: i love cheesy 1980s movies. from the romantic comedies of that era to the horror flicks, there is absolutely nothing else that compares to that over the top 1980s style. and these are movies which, in many cases, ooze bad acting. which is what i love about them.

Is it possible he was simply miscast in that one? As an actor, myself, I can tell you this happens a lot.

I don't disagree that his abilities are somewhat limited - but directors often deserve at least partial blame. Since...you know...they direct the performance. (Actors can't see themselves when they're working and have to rely on a director to let them know if they're "getting it.")

oh yeah definitely, but like NDRU said, my problem with Pitt is that he always seems to be aware of the camera; when I watch him I get the feeling that the guy is just concerned about looking good and delivering the lines correctly, that's all, even when he plays edgy/bizarre characters (12 Monkeys, I.basterds) it seems forced

Brad is a great actor. I love his films. Sure, he's no Olivier or Pacino, but he's a fine actor. I've seen lots worse.
