The only thing I miss about being younger is the odd bit of attention I would sometimes get from girls, the occasional flirtation or compliment. That always gave me a nice little ego boost, and sometimes it bums me out a little that those days are well behind me. But overall, at 43 I know I’m in the best physical shape of my life, and I feel like I’ve just now achieved the kind of life I’ve always wanted to live. That could all be ephemeral and everything I’ve got now could all go away, but for the time being I feel incredibly lucky. No doubt I’ve lost some of my looks but in every other respect I think I’m the best at being myself I’ve ever been right now, and I hope I keep moving forward with that.

i'm 45 now... i had kids late.... i have a 3 year old and a nine month old... i literally haven't had a decent night's sleep in 3 years, and it's taken it's toll on me physically... i have aged a lot over the last few years

it is what it is... i'm trying to embrace it

thankfully, my body is still in great shape as i work out regularly

Wow you just gave me hope that I too can have a child at a later age. I'll be 40 in a few years but I want to try later this year for a child. my husband is already in his 40s.... I only want 1 child.

What diet is that?

I still look young, but I can't run anymore, my libido is waning, and if not for modern medicine I would have reached the end of my natural lifespan and have died a painful death already.

eek And I feel like shit because I just noticed one lonely crow's feet (or crow's foot?) on my left eye. That plus I'm getting a dark puffy circle underneath my right eye. I know I will go downhill from here and I am feeling pretty shitty about it. neutral

Sounds really interesting and healthy. I can completely imagine how a proper diet can have a major effect on your well-being nod

Out of interest: does eating healthy really cost that much more? Do you pay double for your food now that you only eat organic etc?

Of course it really "pays off", especially if the positive effects are as drastic as you describe, and where would we invest if not in proper food? But I'm interested in the concrete difference in cost between the shit we usually eat and proper, healthy food.

I can also imagine, that by eating organic food only, you eat more consciously, and therefore maybe take your time while eating, or maybe even eat less?

Organic food is (at least here in Holland) a bit more expensive than non organic food. But the price difference is not that big. I do eat more consciously and don't throw away anything anymore so in that respect I think I basically spend the same amount of money on food as I always did without any of it going to waste.

But even if the organic food was twice as expensive as non-organic food, I'd still maintain this diet. The health benefits outweigh the price diffeerence. It's a no brainer for me.

For the most part I stay away from processed foods and eat red meat on occassion. I have limited my intake of dairy (ice cream/cheese) and that has reduce my allergies to almost nothing.

I'm being a little dramatic, but it's true! A lot of us would not have survived things like flu & infections (in my case, infection from bad appendix). Flu used to be the biggest killer of Americans

But that doesn't make getting old any funner. Nobody wants to sag!

It still takes work, personally I haven't adjusted to it yet, I eventually will, adapt or die, but it does take time. Wish I were a light switch, then I could do a simple flip and it would all be better.

No it's not. It's on your face in the form of fine lines and wrinkles. No amount of state of mind is going to prevent that.
