This kind of goes out to everyone.

Excessive drinking will REALLY age your face. You're at a great age to reassess drinking.

I rarely drink much any more, but will have a glass of wine with food from time to time. Even when going out...wait, ESPECIALLY when going out, not drinking is so great. It's the best feeling in the world to know that everyone around you is buzzed or wasted, but YOU are in total control! So don't be afraid of cutting back or eliminating alcohol.

That's exactly what I was going to say. Although I agree mainly with what Rodeo was saying, I hate being the only sober one. It's like babysitting boisterous children.

If you're hurt, get it fixed. If you're using bad form (and if you're actually hurt, that's probably why), then LEARN AND PRACTICE THE CORRECT FORM.

I've been weightlifing for two decades and can count on one hand the number of times I've been injured. And as you might know, I lift a LOT of heavy weights. But it is ALL about form. use good form, and you should NEVER hurt yourself, whether you are lifting weights, doing aerobics, or whatever.




Agree with it all pretty much except for your last 2 paragraphs.. When you are a runner, especially of long distances, you get injuries..PERIOD...You know this and accept it... Shin splints, black toe, plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, blisters and callousus, stress fractures, just to name a few... and I have had every single one of them...... Its part of our game, and there pretty much isnt anything you can do to never get them...

I definitely am "old" but I don't think about it so much when I look in the mirror. If anything I think I look better than I did 10 years ago. I'm a lot healthier too.

But there are all kinds of reasons I feel like an old lady these days. Wanting to go to bed by 10 every night is one of them. Not being able to go out on week nights even if it's a show I wanna see is up there too.

Yeah, you're right. That's why I don't run. I kind of enjoyed it, but it really made my lower back hurt. I could see the rest of it coming, so I quit running.

i'm 45 now... i had kids late.... i have a 3 year old and a nine month old... i literally haven't had a decent night's sleep in 3 years, and it's taken it's toll on me physically... i have aged a lot over the last few years

it is what it is... i'm trying to embrace it

thankfully, my body is still in great shape as i work out regularly

I seriously started noticing an improvement in increasing health and overall welness since I changed my diet. All organic, additional superfoods and a lot of raw vegetables juiced each morning. It also makes my skin look better and younger. Lines are diminishing.

Ok, that sounded totally purse but it's true.

And in addition my allergies (hay-fever) seem to have gone. I also used to be really allergic to mosquito bites. They would swell up to the size of golfballs. Not anymore.

My parents are on the same diet and they've never felt better. My dad used to have terrible headaches each morning. Not anymore. My mother does not have to use meds for her bloodpressure anymore and her diabetes has stabilized.

Gotcha!!!

My husband started running with me a few years back.. he tried, bless his heart, but at 6'2" its hard to move all that size! He is big into weights now as well!

I feel and look far better than I did 2 - 4 - 6 yrs ago ~ Very much so and everyone who's opinion I value has stated so in their own ways as well !

I'm not dreading turning 50 next spring though I do know many people that are lol

I'm not a full on vegetarian but I no longer eat red meat nor anything processed. I eat fish once a week and organically fed free range chicken once a week.

Besides eating organic and juicing raw vegetables I incorporate the following in my diet on a daily basis: spirulina, chlorella, coconut oil, hemp seed/oil, chia seeds, red palm oil, fresh ginger and turmeric root.

Have a couple of grey strands that i dye
Music knowledge
Remembering a time without Internet, Britney Spears, call display, DVDs
Don't want to go out on off days, want to relax and be useful, though if I do, it's not for partying like before cause I either end up injured or get way too hyper and can't adjust my mood for days, and this is without drinking, I don't do anything

With just a few minor changes that I can detect, I'm not so bothered by what I see in the mirror. I feel every minute my age, though, and that bugs me. I could definitely do without the sore joints and back. Need to be more proactive in battling that.

Sounds really interesting and healthy. I can completely imagine how a proper diet can have a major effect on your well-being nod


Out of interest: does eating healthy really cost that much more? Do you pay double for your food now that you only eat organic etc?

Of course it really "pays off", especially if the positive effects are as drastic as you describe, and where would we invest if not in proper food? But I'm interested in the concrete difference in cost between the shit we usually eat and proper, healthy food.

I can also imagine, that by eating organic food only, you eat more consciously, and therefore maybe take your time while eating, or maybe even eat less?

That always gave me a nice little ego boost, and sometimes it bums me out a little that those days are well behind me. But overall, at 43 I know I’m in the best physical shape of my life, and I feel like I’ve just now achieved the kind of life I’ve always wanted to live. That could all be ephemeral and everything I’ve got now could all go away, but for the time being I feel incredibly lucky. No doubt I’ve lost some of my looks but in every other respect I think I’m the best at being myself I’ve ever been right now, and I hope I keep moving forward with that.
