So have you hit that point in your life when you...

...look in the mirror and suddenly notice that you're getting old?

Yeah, that was me last week.

sad

Yeah, I think we stay in a point of denial until there simply no way of denying anymore.

The mirror means nothing. It's what is inside that counts.

I totally care what I look like....but I also care how I feel.

If I stop going to the gym for a while, I feel it. My knees start to really bother me.

I'm told all the time that I don't look anywhere near my age (whatever pushing 40 is apparently supposed to look like) but I really see major changes in my face that I'm positive has happened over the last year or so and I'm pretty sure it's stress related. sad

I'm not so bothered by the fact that I'm looking old (crows feet, thinning hair, etc.) it's that I'm FEELING old. Especially lately.

Hey old man, how's the bench press coming along? You're going to hit 225 before the summer is over! (If you haven't hit it yet!)

It's the magic age, I guess.

Taking really good care of yourself is the best thing to do, but I'm also seriously considering getting a few little tweaks done.

Which is why I run everyday.. Keeps me fit and makes me look younger than alot of people my age! I have no problem with a little maintence myself!

I have noticed a few postitives as I get older... I like how my hair is wavy... I can use the blow dryer to get a head of full curly hair... My butt is getting ALOT rounder and higher... no clue why or how but im not gonna complain!

My vision is getting shittier tho.. Time for the "B" word...

Thats the other thing... I am not finding "young" guys attractive AT ALL! Sure, I can appreciate the beauty, but sexually or mentally... shake

Wine on the other hand is doable!

I feel a little bit old I suppose. I turned 35 recently and I can clearly remember my mum at this age. So I suppose it's more a case of feeling more like an adult than I ever did before.
...and I can't drink like I used to. I get MASSIVE hangovers now. I used to knock anything back, now I have to be careful. That makes me feel old. Especially if I'm out with younger people.

Simple fixes just ain't working anymore, that's what's ticking me off. It use to be all I had to do was a little of this or that and "puff" I felt all better about me, not anymore feels like Everest sometimes.

This kind of goes out to everyone.

Excessive drinking will REALLY age your face. You're at a great age to reassess drinking.

I rarely drink much any more, but will have a glass of wine with food from time to time. Even when going out...wait, ESPECIALLY when going out, not drinking is so great. It's the best feeling in the world to know that everyone around you is buzzed or wasted, but YOU are in total control! So don't be afraid of cutting back or eliminating alcohol.

Smoking too will age us. If you smoke, stop. If you don't stop, then be prepared to wrinkle faster than everyone else. And they will be the kind of wrinkles that no cream will be able to fix.

Stress is a horrible ager of our skin, but what it does to our insides is even worse. Consult a professional if you have a problem with stress. And CERTAINLY go to church. I know, I know - many of us here are not believers. Well, give it a try. You just might be surprised!

Finally, if you are exercising and it hurts - STOP. That's your body telling you that either it is injured, or you are doing the exercise with poor form. Figure out which it is. If you're hurt, get it fixed. If you're using bad form (and if you're actually hurt, that's probably why), then LEARN AND PRACTICE THE CORRECT FORM.

I've been weightlifing for two decades and can count on one hand the number of times I've been injured. And as you might know, I lift a LOT of heavy weights. But it is ALL about form. use good form, and you should NEVER hurt yourself, whether you are lifting weights, doing aerobics, or whatever.

Sorry to interrupt, ma'am, but seriously... Lisa, you are probably the youngest 35-year-old woman I've met in my whole life. And you're not even trying hard. You've got youth and verve written all over you!
