Well, dear, get ready for a real ride. I started going through menopause after chemotherapy for breast cancer back in 1997. I couldn't take any hormone therapy because of my history, so I got ALL the symptoms: hot flashes, mood swings, night sweats, change in libido. The worst are the hot flashes and night sweats. Flashes hit like a tidal wave. All of a sudden you just get HOT. It usually starts at the neck and goes up to the face. Mine were so bad I would actually drip. It can ge downright embarrassing. I had just started a new job and I was talking to my boss. All of a sudden a flash hit me. Immediately sweat popped up all over my neck and face. I could feel it streaming dowm my back. My boss was looking at me bug-eyed, and I had to excuse myself to go to the rest room to dab myself down.
Another time I thought I was losing my friggin mind. I would just burst into tears for the stupidest shit. Other times, my temper was terrible. I would go into a rage for dumb shit. I finally realized what the hell was going on and would just try and calm myself by taking time outs and telling myself to get my shit together before I really fucked up, which I eventually did anyway.
I guess you can try the hormones or herbal remedies. I didn't have either. I just suffered thorugh the flashes and other symptoms. I still get flashes every now and then, but not as bad as I used to. But be prepared. This shit can last for years.
