According to Business Insider, the teen retailer doesn’t make clothes in sizes above a large because it wants only thin people shopping in its stores. Women's pants don’t come in anything larger than a size 10.

True, because when I went to Hollister for a pair of jeans, the biggest size they had was a ten. I wanted an size 11 because the tens were kinda snug, but I settled for them shrug

Honestly -- and I'm not trying to sound like a jerk -- in my circles, since about 2000 it'd be downright embarrassing to be seen in A&F. The entire brand has become a joke. They're like the uniform depot for 19-year-old circuit boys in training and the unfortunate debutantes who chase after them, thinking they might actually be straight. confused

A&F used to be a respectable brand. The Limited managed them not so bad at first, but they absolutely went south when they started plastering such tacky lettering and that stupid moose on everything toward the latter '90s.

Shit Wal Mart's clothes are better than the shits at Abercrombie & Bitch, I mean, Fitch. You can get a cool-looking shirt for $9 at Wal Mart and Target than the shits you get at Abercrombie.

I'm not sure if we have this store in Canada - I've never seen it or at least noticed it before.

It's not that they wish to sell to a certain demographic because really, pretty much every retailer does that.

It's the proclamations that their demographic is better than everyone else that is just another typical example of this pathetic bully culture we live in.

What pisses me off is people of color wearing A & F.

They've been sued over their employment practices multiple times.

People of color at one point, were not allowed on the salesfloor during hours the store was open.

All their work was done in back. You would never get 'promoted' to the salesfloor either.

I agree with you.

A&F does currently have stores in Toronto, Edmonton and Calgary, by the way. Ottawa, Vancouver, Montreal, etc. appear to have higher standards just yet. smile

At least they´re honest and blunt this time and don´t beat around the bush like they did in the past.

I can´t stand that brand and its offshoot Hollister. I don´t care whether they stock large or XL clothing but I don´t like their elitist and bullying attitude and the consumer base that they cater to, and their clothing is horribly boring.

[img:$uid]http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VxsutMpdtOc/TmF0OpOLZuI/AAAAAAAAACs/h9TEbfid7Yo/s1600/chronicle.jpg[/img:$uid]

Not a fan of A&F or the atitude they project. But, I don't mind a plaid shirt from Hollister (the straight version store of A&F.). As for the price of clothes at Hollister, I normally pay 7 to 12 bucks for a plaid shirt. None of my plaid shirts have ever fell apart.

Hollister tends to be more inclusive with regards to staffing different ethnic backgrounds, but they are all thin to fit though.

I like it in Hollister because it's dark and the music is loud.

But, I only go like 3 or 4 times a year. shrug

I don't like the over branding-so I can't and wont buy any of that over branding that is available at Hollister (most things.).

I've seen people of color on the salesfloor. Was this after the lawsuit? I wasn't aware of a suit, and besides, I didn't start shopping there until the last two years, because of my daughter. Mostly, we went to Hollister, and I am aware of the sexual lawsuits against them by their models.

In the shopping world, I have heard plus-sized customers complain that hip stores do not cater to them. They want something pretty and hip. When they go stores like Walmart, their clothes look so plain and cheesy, including the bras.

A&F was hit with at least two class action suits, about 8 and 10 years ago know I think. They did change, but I knew people who worked on the second suit and attended a legal conference on it.

true,

*

People can deny it if they want, this guy came out and said it, but in a lot of stores if you see their models they are pretty and put together.

*

American Eagle has a A&F type feel to their stuff too, Old Navy is more 'family/generational' friendly but you're not going to see overweight or unattractive models

*

Walmart has Faded Glory, pretty ok stuff for wear n tear, and I think they go for all sizes,
