When Did You Get Your Shit Together?

I firmly believe everyone has that time in their life where they are just in the ruts and have to learn from mistakes to build themselves up to something worthy again.

Over a year ago i was an incredible low point... i was getting nearly NO set jobs, my rent was way overdue, my priorites for thing's(Life, health, money etc.) Were not in the right place and everything was just blah.

So i had to go live in my hometown in Texas for about a month and got offered a bit set job to come back to LA and.. i ended up staying in a shady motel, living birefly with a psycho & just having an all around shitty return experience lol

Over the summer last year i got dozens of set jobs, started doing personal training at the gym(Which as ya'll know i mention a lot and still to this day maintain wink ) met amazing people, found great roommates and friend's & the best area to live in i could imagine.

Since then i have been working, working out, living life and being a lot more happy since then. I also took to practicing thai a lot more(I write the characters down at least 4 times a week) and also finally afforded a car to drive in this hell hole of the 110 eek

But my life, my health, my financial status & well being are the best it has ever been.

What events made you want to get your life back on track?

When I was investigating a brutal murder of a wealthy rock star. During the investigation I got involved in a torrid and intense relationship with the prime suspect, the beautiful, mysterious Catherine Tramell.

About 2 years ago. And for a few months.

.

And then suddenly I had to start over...so I don't have it all together again.

.

I am begining to think having it all together is just a a wasted effort. Meh.

JRSKRS posted on Facebook yesterday an interesting theory about messy rooms
A tidy room will always get messy but a messy room can only get so messy -
It mentioned the word entropy in it several times (which I will have to go and look up) so sounded very scientific to me.

I expect that you could apply the same thing to your "life". Maybe it's enough to kind of go with he flow instead of constantly fighting for control in all areas?
Say you have different areas to get right: health - work - relationships (you could add finances, quality of life, probably other things) do you really need all of them 100% at any one time? Is perfection overrated? I don't mean we shouldn't always strive for improvement - I'm not defeatist (at least I don't think so!) but I wonder if your perceived failure to meet your high expectations don't end up in constant disappointment with yourself (which I see again and again, compounds and turns people into bad luck magnets).
I'm the mistake you wanna make

I got most of my stuff together in 2009. Some of you here will remember that. It started in 2008 and there was some stuff in 2010 as well, but 2009 was the big year.

In some ways, I've always had my shit together. I knew what I wanted to do and how I wanted to do it in grammar school. I have worked for the last 30 years. Having three kids did not deter that: just made it all the more important to keep my shit together.

If you mean job-wise I still don't know what I want to do. lol

I have a great job and am paid well but I'd definitly rather be doing something else. Just not sure what that "else" is yet.

Job-wise I am probably not where I am going to end up. I figure I will end up working for the regulators. But for now, I am helping people and I always wanted to do that.

I like this thinking. I'm not self-actualized enough yet to live by it, but I like it. smile

I'm going to have to get the dictionary out again boxed

entropy (figurative): lack of order or predictability; gradual decline into disorder

I am in a constantly evolving state of getting my shit together. But I suppose I finally began to take care of my health about ten years ago, and to be responsible enough that I finally supported myself and lived within my means by 2008-2009.

But I by no means "have my shit together."
