Then Sean should send his ass on a one way flight to Port-Au-Prince and make him build some houses over there

I feel you. he could have cursed the photographer out but the way those words came out shows me that he's real comfortable using them..

Im certain choice words are nessessary to get those kinds of vultures to fuck off. Because they don't fuck off even when you tell them to. But the story is about him calling them faggots and niggers instead. To make a thief, make an owner; to create crime, create laws.

I'm of the mind that were all a little racist and prejudiced at heart. The key is to realise that racist ideals are bullshit and are driven by a lack of humility, and come from an egotistical and judgemental mindset.
Once it gets to the point where you start calling people nigger, honky, wetback, gook, chink, jap etc, then you have a serious problem and need to do some soul searching. Rest in Peace Bettie Boo. See u soon.

I agree... | |

maybe, or it's possible people simply are programmed to react to those labels. To make a thief, make an owner; to create crime, create laws.

True, but did he ever say those things? I'm not saying he didn't, but I don't remember it being that way. I remember him spitting at them and being violent. It seems a little out of line with what you'd expect when you consider Sean Penn has spent much of the last few years in Haiti. Seems like there needs to be a bit more teaching going on with that one.

I think he yelled the f-word a few times back in the '80s.

I just don't believe this. You already have to think a certain way to say something like that. With anger it only comes out of their mouth, but it has to be already on somebody's mind.
He could have used other words when he got angry, but he didn't

the irony of this thread is only one person has seemed to take issue with the casual use of "honkie" Power tends to corrupt; absolute power corrupts absolutely. - Lord Acton

I think its both but its definitely not simple. People might be conditioned to react to negative labels(especially racist ones) but the people that use the racist terms are the ones with the real issues(in general). I would say that just because someone is programmed to react in a certain way, what they're reacting to isn't any less destructive or wrong.
Innocent, blameless people(including children)are constantly being labeled in a racist way. A person could be minding their own business and be on the receiving end of a racist comment.
A number of years ago my 60(at that time) year old mother was at a bus stop when a carload of white guys drove by and started calling her 'nigger' and 'black bitch'. It was at a light so she had to listen to that shit for a while.
Now tell me, what kind of person does something like that and how should a person feel after being subjected to being called a black bitch and a nigger?
I do realise that things aren't always black and white so i understand that not all people that say racist things are staunch racists. I have to assume though that when you use racist language, you are a racist.
Either way racism is alive and well in the U.S.
Rest in Peace Bettie Boo. See u soon.
