If I sleep with someone (and know that person well enough) we simply use the pill, which is, if you find the right one, still the most practical and easiest way of birth control, in my opinion.

I don't like using condoms as birth control. They're necessary if you fuck strangers, of course, but for birth control reasons I won't use them.

And for the people who mentioned ladies over 40:

My father's partner just got pregnant. She's in her late 40s.

Yeah at least for the man....

Why not for her also? If you pick a time of day that's suitable (usually after work, but before going out/to bed) it is the easiest way for her, too. And, like I said, if you find the right one, meaning one that doesn't fuck with your brain and your body!

It is not healthy for the woman.

Yes it has pros like that you know exactly when you will have your menstruation, that you can change the time of it easily, that it will be lighter and less hurtful. I loved all of that nod.

But it also has negative effects and some of them you might not even realize they are side effects of the pill because they may only occur after a long period of time.

The newer recipes are nothing as harmful to the women's hormone system / liver as the ones 5 years ago. There's plenty of choice among very "light" pills, which are just as affective and a huge variety of pills in order to find the one that fits your body and system the most!

Unfortunately, they can all cause stroke. I know a woman in her thirties had a stroke because of her birth control and now is partial paralyzed.

You need a thorough check every couple of months using birth control, especially at the beginning, to check whether it corresponds with your body. Problems such as flactuating blood pressure can be avoided with the right pill that fits your body.

I think that's an illusion. There is no right pill, just getting a pill that may have less side effects. But the risk of stroke still remains and the risk level may very, but it is still there.

That's exactly what I was told back then when I took it. Just a few weeks ago a light pill that millions of women took was stopped it was in France I think because they found out it is not so harmless.

My gyn always told me mine (a ligth totally harmless one of course) fits perfectly, no problem at all. Then when I took one short break that I didn't even want to do because I was so happy with it I found out that it had side effects that I was told before could not have anything to do with my pill even though I had asked about it. Not to mention that without any change in eating habits I immediately lost 4 kilos that I had very slowly gained in a period of 10 years or so and thought it was because it might just be natural to gain that amount of weight when you get older slowly. I had taken differerent pills before that had side effects that showed kinda quick, but apparently you can also suffer from side effects after years and you don't even realize it's the pill causing it.

I don't expect anyone to do anything! You're making it sound as if (good) sex is something only men can feel and something that is generously given to them by the poor women, who have to go through so much just to give their men some pleasure.

Fact is, most women I know and have had sex with dislike condoms at least as much as I do. That's why they happily take the pill instead.

That's it exactly.

A partner that is really concerned about the health effects of the pill on her would just use a condom.
