Yes, you are correct about giving credit where it's due. I really liked Argo and I like Ben too, but he did miss a few things. Although, it's quite typical of Hollywood and the U.S. to take more credit than they acutally deserve.

Everybody has the same complaints about the Oscars(TM) every year. It's too long. The jokes bombed. Et cetera. When you put on a live show for four (4) hours, trying to entertain accomplished entertainers, these things are inevitable.

I think people are being unfair to Seth McFarlane. If "Tina and Amy" had told the same jokes, or done the same bits, the same folks catcalling McFarlane would be laying roses at their feet.

I agree. I can't stand Tina and Amy... neutral The media always praises them. Why? I don't know. I'm not a big fan of Seth but eh. He did what he was supposed to do.

It always seems to be that the audience in the theatre don't really go with host that are tv stars, while they bend over backwards for fellow Movie stars hositng.

Im not a fan of Seth's humor but I think he was fine actually rather timid in his jokes and delivery.

A stump would be better than James Franco.

Seth was hit and miss. I was impressed with his singing and dancing. I greatly admire those that put themselves out there with no fear and he did that. I was very pleasantly surprised by him.

UPDATE, 8:35 AM: Last night’s Oscars were up 19% from the 2012 Academy Awards, according to fast national ratings. The Seth MacFarlane-hosted ceremony on ABC pulled in a 12.1/28 on Sunday in the adults 18-49 demo. Last year’s Oscars, hosted by Billy Crystal, got a 10.2/23 in fast nationals from 8:30-11 PM ET; those ratings eventually rose to 11.7/27 in the final numbers. Sunday’s pre-show, Oscars Red Carpet, was also up from last year. Over half-hour increments, the arrivals broadcast rose 4%, then 8%, and finally 14% from last year’s 7-8:30 PM ET show. We’ll update the Oscar ratings and viewership numbers when we get them later today.
Other than CBS’ The Amazing Race (1.8/4) everything else on TV last night was a repeat. In the second airing of its new 22nd season, the reality show was down 28% from last week to hit a series low.

I still loved Anne Hathaway's hair.

And I'm soo glad Argo won, but I still think he should have gotten more.

And yay to you all who can sit through 4hrs of it.

I think Seth may get the last laugh.

I agree with lazycrockett, cborgman and nuthinbutjoy.

McFarlane had plenty of hit-and-miss jokes and bits, but he was trying some new angles to the show, Family Guy cutaway style. I thought the opening was solid at least. Then he kind of faded into the background of the show. I'd double-down and give him one more year. Unless Gervais and Tina and Amy want the gig.

I wouldn't recognize him.

Is there a theme going on here? Maybe Grant should be in the middle then they'd have a nice "graduation" thing happening.

Also very telling was when Hugh Jackman jumped up to help J-Law when she fell and yet Daniel Radcliffe couldn't even link his arm with Kristen Stewart's as she bravely limped across the stage without her crutches. Must be an 'age' thing??? shrug

And I don't know what happened to Kristen's hair but before the show it looked great. confuse lol

Here's one of the funnier skits of the show last night when Seth MacFarlane sang about seeing the naked breasts of famous actresses in film.

Note the reaction of Jennfier Lawrence when Seth sings about how she has NOT shown her boobs on film.
