I hate the word "literally." It's literally always used incorrectly.

I hate it when "learning" is used as a noun.

What are our learnings from this experience?

Well, for one thing, I have learned that you are a moron.

I also hate corporate speak. Like "synergy" and "paradigm," or "I don't have the bandwidth for that right now, so let's take it offline."

Well let's see. Literally, I don't mind too many catch phrases. But, basically it's like a frickin' nightmare when people with a lisp, which is no fault of their own mind you, spit with every "s" word. After apologizing, laugh and then walk away. bananadance

er

I suppose I can't really answer this because English is not my native language. So whatever I say will be lost in translation. But I will say this: English has such a big influence on Dutch these days that a lot of Dutch start translating English expressions into Dutch literally and that just annoys the hell out of me.

I always though that when most people use the phrase in theory, they mean it in this way:in theory, your idea sounds great, but can it be practically applied?

I will have to say that the work terms like dialogue and synergy are over used. However, some people require the use of such terms, so I do use them to please the upper mucky mucks.

Sour grapes: refers to pretending not to care for something one wants, but does not or cannot have.

lol

I do that.

Sometimes I only know a word in English and can't come up with the Dutch word.

I'm a horrible speller. In both Dutch & English.

I hate it when people talk about themselves in 3rd person. Unfortunately that's a trend in Holland.

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

Are you kidding?!! If you didn't tell people you were Dutch, I would think that you were a native English speaker... Americans are so far behind in learning other languages...it just ain't funny anymore... Not to mention that higher education in this country is no longer valued... Just what money a degree can get you when you're done. We might as well do away with academics and make our universities run-of-the-mill vocational centers... razz

One word I hate is "amazing". It's been used too many on TV and now also by the public general.

I also hate "lol" when used in a text message etc.

Other words/phrases I hate are work related; buckets, spreadsheet, schedule. At my previous job they used phrases like "sharing knowledge" and "innovation" which were pasted all over the walls and even on the computer screen. You couldn't escape it and I hated it.

I especially hate it when someone uses these work-related words/phrases when i'm far away from work.

(On another subject, I also used to hate hearing the home phone ring because it reminded me of work).
