Went to the dentist yesterday morning for a dental emergency.

My back molar (old filling) had broken off a bit. My tooth is hurting/aching so I am surviving on extra strength tylenol for the time being.

On Friday morning they will open up the filling and drain it and then the fun begins......... a root canal, something I am not looking forward to.

I hate dentists. Had a bad experience when I was 12 that has stayed with me, so was a traumatic experience.

You'll wake up thinking your dentist hasn't started and he or she will be done. You'll get some nice drugs to keep the pain away.

I will be awake for the entire event.

I have never been put out for any dental stuff. Afraid I will never wake up.

I don't know how long it will take. Maybe I can get the day off and off the freezing.

Maybe I'll get a prescription for 222's with codeine !!!

I hate the dentists too. For they are the evil ones. I've got far too many horror stories. Any time I get a new Dentist, I ask them if they've seen Marathon Man. Then I tell em to think of me as a cross between Dustin Hoffman and a shitting dog. It isn't safe, or is it?

One idiot tried for about 3/4s of an hour to yank a tooth that was fused to the jaw. He had no bidness even trying it, so I was told later. He almost knocked the nurse out with his elbow, I'm not kidding. I had to see a Dental Surgeon and be knocked out before I'd let em near me again.

Root treatment's none too funky either. they're much better now than years ago but never a lot of laughs. When I get in that chair/torture seat I lose about a stone in sweat alone. The hair on the back of my head gets wet I sweat so much. They are the evil ones.

You'll be just fine. Nothin to it.

I'm the same way, not just because I'm afraid of not waking up but also because I hate being forced asleep and not knowing what's happening around me. The Seinfeld episode only reinforced my fears. So they used laughing gas when my four wisdom teeth were ripped out of my mouth, and I did laugh a lot during the surgery.

Oh wow, my dentist is awesome. Nothing ever hurts (worst I ever felt was a pinch from one of the needles when I had to get a crown last Tuesday), and so far their work has been excellent.

Oh, and she looks a lot like Tina Fey, which is a plus

I've had two root canals - one was quick, fairly painless and not a big deal in the least. The other one left me feeling like Winston Smith in room 101 - and the cherry on top of that experience was that my dentist wasn't able to successfully complete the procedure, so I had to be referred to a specialist who did it in three separate sessions.

It is actually not as bad as it sounds.

Don't worry bout the root treatment. Last time I had one they had a new tool that did it semi-automatically. None of that jammin about like they used to.

Any bothers, just tell em you're a mod and you've brought your red pencil.
