SOCCER = Leo Messi, Fourth Consecutive Ballon d'Or (FIFA WORLD PLAYER); the best of all time?

I know soccer (football, lol) is not that popular here, but damn, this is remarkable so I felt like starting a thread about it: Leo Messi (argentinian player) has just won his fourth consecutive fifa world player/ballon d'or award, which is AMAZING; do you imagine, I don't know, an actor winning four consecutive Oscars?

that supposedly makes him the best (at least, the most revered) of all time, ...oh he's certainly great (plenty of youtube videos out there), has scored 91 goals in a single year, etc etc, but better than Pele, Cruyff or Maradona? he has yet to win a World Cup (2014, in Brazil?), we'll see...

three (2010, 2011, 2012) and now the fourth

I'm not a huge buff of traditional football soccer but is he really better than Pele, Diego Maradona, or even Ronaldo? How he has performed in the World Cup? Having said that, winning four straight Ballon D'Ors would put him in LeBron James/Peyton Manning-type territory. I would definitely put him ahead of David Beckham.
