The problem with season 2 was they brought in characters that no one cared about. Esther and her baby drama was like wtf? who is this woman and why should I care. Throw in the other maid that made eyes at Lord Grantham was also another whats the point? I also thought the whole Bates Murder Mystery was was too soapy and out of place. Like Ann is gonna put on her detective hat and solve the crime herself rolleyes .

Season 2 spoiler ahead! (Cerebus, this means you.)

Don't even get me started on that wounded soldier who was trying to convince Edith that he was a long-lost heir. And then he just disappeared! What the what? lol

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

lol So he did just disappear then? I was wondering. I'm so new to the show I thought I just missed something.

I don't mind spoilers unless they're like, surprise climax ruining spoilers (because who want's to have their climax ruined?). I've been on the internet for so damn long that I seem to have developed the ability to just ignore them, for the most part.

I've been knowing about Downton Abbey, but never bothered to watch it until Christmas break. My brother got his girlfriend some DVDs of it, and I thought, "I need to see what all the hub bub is about." So I watched both seasons and the Christmas special the week after Christmas. LOVE IT! I'm American, but started saying things in my head with a British accent, I watched so much in such a short amount of time.

I love the ladies clothes too, especially the hats! The Dowager's costumes are so beautiful.

I think it's brilliant how they are making a soapy type of drama out of that era, yet it's still enthrallling.

Here is kind of a spoiler: This show is NOT about a woman named Abbey who likes to go downtown. Very disappointed.

The whole thing is a ridiculous soap opera that happens to be very well done. Everything turns on a dime from week to week--murder, romance, weddings, lies, money...

Mary & Matthew are just the Bo and Hope of their generation

Here's one thing I don't get, but it's maybe because I don't know my history.

Isn't an abbey a church of some sort?

Aren't you supposed to be watching Deep Space Nine?

Well, Sunday night was in'eresting, huh? You had to know, when they put Edith in a wedding dress even prettier than Mary's, that it wasn't going to end well. lol

And Anna is just an idiot. After that conversation with Vera's former neighbor (about how Vera had made some sort of pastry for Bates, but then practically scrubbed the skin off her hands afterwards), how did Anna not to straight to Bates's lawyer to have the body exhumed so they could check under Vera's fingernails for arsenic?

Some of these folks aren't the sharpest tools in the shed, that's for sure.

The first episode of which season? We're on the third, you know.

I can see how it'd be boring if you come in in the middle. Or maybe it just isn't your kind of show. shrug

I'm in the middle of downloading season two. I want to have both of them ready to go before I start. I'll commit to watching both seasons and if I'm appropiately hooked I'll try and soldier through Shirley MacLaine. lol

Just caught up.

Edith's dress was amazing! Poor Edith :-(

I'm as stupid as Anna. Nice catch Genesia!

I can't wait to see the showdown between O'Brien & Thomas.

As for the series, I was warned that Season 1 started off slow and I'm glad of it. It is so worth it.

Their concentrated evil was fun to watch. nod

I'm hoping their battle royale will be fantastically bad!

It would have been more of a punch if Julian Fellowes didn't telegraph every damn thing. He's sort of Captain Obvious.

I watched the entire season on blu-ray over the last week so if this episode is the one I think you're talking about, I agree with you. I thought it was obvious everything would be fine in the end, but no.

Well there had been rumors bout the second more so than the first, so I was expecting last nights. But really what were the writers going to do?
