First of all,
Second of all, beside The Old Couple & Quincy, I also remember him in You Again?, also co-starring John Stamos.

So sad. I knew he was getting up in age. Now they're both gone, Felix and Oscar. [Edited 12/24/12 17:32pm]

Oscar! Oscar! Oscar!
I spoke with him for a brief moment back in 1997, while working at Macy's/Herald Square in Manhattan. He asked me for directions to the nearest exit, and I pointed him in the right direction, but not without telling him what an honor it was to meet him. I know that he had been battling cancer since even before that time, may he be resting peacefully. What a fighter.

He was terrific in comedies (of course). But the role that really put me in awe of him was that of Juror #5 in 12 Angry Men. He was magnificent. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Wow sad to hear about this. He is such a great actor. Loved his tv shows Odd Couple/Quincy/You Again and still remember him on the original Twilight Zone. I know he battle cancer back in the 80's and was able to live another 30 years....Way to go Jack for kicking Cancer's ass for 30+ years!!!!!!!!! You will be missed.

Why didn't you escort him personally? That would have given you more time with him.
I also loved him as Oscar and Quincy. I even bought the DVD series for Quincy.
May he rest in peace. [Edited 12/24/12 21:16pm]

Well, because I really make a point of not "crowding" celebrities when I meet them, or try to "create" more reason than necessary to remain in their space. I was just so delighted that out of all the people that were standing around, he chose ME to approach for directions. Besides, we did have quite a moment together, with good eye contact, and I even patted him on his shoulder as I spoke with him before sending him on his way (...and he really wasn't that far from the exit to begin with). Plus, his gravelly "thanks" and warm smile when I told him what an honor it was for me to meet him, and that I had been a long time fan of his, really spoke volumes to me. Beyond that, I can't imagine what more I could have possibly had to say to him anyway, lol.
You'd literally meet at least one or two major celebrities on any given day working at that store, and it always seemed that they appreciated the people most that didn't make a big fuss over them.

The thing with the ODD COUPLE was that the show was better than the movie and the pairing of Klugman and Randall was better than Lemmon and Mathau and thats not slighting them thats just testament to how good that show was and they were as a unit. That show still remains one of the best comedies ever, still holds up now, every now and then i will pull out the dvd sets and watch them nonstop, classic comedy from one of the best sitcom eras and best lineups, and he was an amazing talent. Agreed. And I would add that his performance on Quincy, M.E. made the show a precursor to CSI and and all of its spinoffs and knockoffs. But it was his perfomance as Oscar Madison in The Odd Couple that made him sort of an icon.

it amazes me that the show was NOT a ratings darling at all, in fact was on the edge of getting cut after the first season i believe. Also i believe that Tony Randall won the best actor emmy finally, but the show had already been cancelled when he did. R.I.P.
I heard that his High School drama teacher had told him to forget acting and think of becoming a truck driver instead.

You're so right. I wasn't much into sit coms, but that was one I did enjoy. Their chemistry was amazing (Klugman and Randall).

Funny how I identify with shows with content that clearly went over my head and were more for adults, but I do remember watching The Odd Couple as a child. Only watched 12 Angry Men a couple of years ago, and it was quite good, and I liked his role. RIP "Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!

Yeah The Odd Couple used to be on all the time on Nick at Nite and I watched it all the time. I was an Oscar fan more than Felix.
