UUUGGGHHH! I have too many gadgets. Just a heads up for all you people rushing out for Christmas presents; make sure you really want or need that gadget they're offering in the stores for Christmas and that you aren't duplicating yourself. In the last two years I've bought a 42 inch flat screen TV, a quad-core desktop computer, a 17-inch Toshiba laptop, an 80GB Zune. a Sansa Clip with a 32GB microSDHC card, a 64GB iPod Touch, a first generation Amazon Kindle, and an HP Touchpad which I have since booted with Android 4.0 (ice cream sandwich).
And now I'm sort of in the market for a new cell phone, but I'm holding out for a super cool smartphone with a preapid contract. But this tech stuff is dragging me down.
BTW, I also bought a 19 inch LED TV that was on sale during a store grand opening last spring, but it has been sitting in a closet ever since. I think I'm going to give it away as a Christmas present this year.
Has anyone else here suddenly found themselves buying more stuff then they anticipated getting in the first place?

I said I had a 64GB iPod Touch earlier. In fact, I bought an alarm clock/docking station for it yeaterday bcause the battery keeps running out so quickly.

I know exactly how you feel. I have an iPod Touch, iPone and iPad, which in their way, are all the same thing. I had two other iPod that I gave away. And more electronics and more electronics.
Every year at Xmas, I would get myslef something else along these lines but this year I decided I have had enough. I want stuff like Adventure Time on DVD or socks and house shoes.

I guess you could say that. It's probably because in the past five years or so prior to the last two years I didn't have a steady job and could only afford to pay for basic stuff and had to forego all those gadgets that were big at that time. But since then I've been able to afford a few toys, yet I feel as though I've gone a little overboard.

I dont even own a cell phone. I have a 36" flat screen tv that I bought probably 3 years ago,and two iPod's that were purchased at least 5 years ago,and a laptop that I purchased around that time also, but that was before I lost my job,and was making a descent income.
I like looking at the new cell phone, and think it would be neat to have one,but I really don't need one. [Edited 11/24/12 18:01pm] Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life. ~Berthold Auerbach

Fortunately i don't. I do have 3 mp3 players. None of them are expensive ipods and are collectively cheaper than the price of one Ipod. I bought my last one 2 years ago and i use all 3 to listen to different music. I'm still searching for my first and hopefully only tablet. I don't invest in state of the art cell phones. I did buy an additional 32 inch flat screen and a blu ray player on Black Friday but they were both on sale at a hot price and some bluray dvd's at Wal Mart for 3.96. and Madden 13 for less than half the price of it's initial price upon release. I have a laptop i got 2 years ago as a christmas gift. While i am a bit of an electronics geek i usually do thorough research and make a wise decision before purchasing.

we have a desk-top computer that we bought in 2009, a tablet, e-reader, my husband has a fancy cell phone, it's not an i-phone, but it seems to do everything that an i-phone does. i'm so clueless.... my son has a wii and a ds. that's good enough for me for now. i got a new camera last year for x-mas, but my friend broke it, so i wouldn't mind a new one next year for my b-day though. be kind, be a friend, not a bully.

You can probably get a good deal on a desktop since apparently no one is really buying them anymore.

Laptops are getting pretty cheap, too, for the same reason, I think. My Legacy

I don't have a cell phone and have never had one. I have a home phone that I let the answering machine pick up 90% of the time so I sure as hell don't want something where someone can reach me 24/7 and then have to fight with them when I don't answer it. With the home phone, I can just simply say I wasn't at home. I'm just not a phone person anyway and never have been. I only call someone when I have something to say, not to just sit there and talk about nothing. Some folks will call and practically watch a TV show together on the phone with you. If that's the case, then just come over and we'll sit and watch it together. Andy is a four letter word.

I'm a secretary so part of my job is answering the phone. I did it all day at work so I sure don't want to do it when I get home. Andy is a four letter word.

I had a cell phone once, and only got it for emergency situations. I had it for maybe 3 months, and never really had to use it,and the few times I did ended up costing me a small fortune,so I got rid of it. I to have a home phone, and a answering machine so that I can screen my calls, and the only person that I really call,is my Mom. WOW, never knew I had twins, let alone carried two little people for 9 months. Damn, this is a story for the National Enquire. I told you I was a geek /gadget person. I'm however not a phone person the worst thing ever invented is the damn cell phone.
