People are selling boxes of Twinkies for $30 or more OK, I understand the sentiment that some people have for Twinkies, which will supposedly be leaving the shelves soon as Hostess folds up their corporate tent. The eBay sales are just plain silly. People are bidding up 20 or 30 dollars on boxes of Twinkies that retail for $3.99. The thing is that, in a buyer's market, if someone is willing to shed out that kind of dough and someone is smart enough (or soulless enough, depending on your point of view) to know that there is demand for a product then it is all supposed to work out from a cosmic sense. But Twinkies? Really?! Is someone studying the Mayan countdown calendar to see if this is one of the final steps in the world destruction that will possibly be taking place a month from now?
Now if you'll excuse me, I understad that my local K-Mart has a few boxes of Twinkies still in stock so I better go down and purchase them...so, um, nobody else will be tempted to gauge some poor snackhound who is afraid that will loose their cream filled snack cakes forever. I understand nostalgia and all and I hate to see longterm good things come to an end also but this is ridiculous. If they love twinkies so much that they would pay that much money for them now that they're going out of business, they should have been buying them all along and the company would still be thriving. . . .
