Impatience at its best plus enough criticism of his coaching style, this was inevitable. He'll have to be an assistant for a couple years before he gets another head job or he can pay the bills by being a talking head on TV, it will only hurt temporarily for his career.

Dammit! Beat me Gray. lol

Anyway, here's the 411 from the Associated Press:

Report: Lakers fire Brown after 1-4 start

LOS ANGELES (AP) - A report from USA Today says the Los Angeles Lakers have fired coach Mike Brown after a 1-4 start to his second season in charge of the team.

The newspaper report Friday cited Brown's agent, Warren Legarie, as the source of the information.

Legarie didn't immediately return messages left by The Associated Press.

Los Angeles began the season with championship expectations after trading for center Dwight Howard and point guard Steve Nash, adding two superstars alongside Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol.

But the talented group went 0-8 during the preseason for the first time in franchise history before stumbling into the regular season with an 0-3 start. After finally winning last Sunday, the Lakers looked listless again in a loss at Utah on Wednesday.

in situations like this, I wonder if EXPERIENCE is worth a damn in basketball confused

no matter how average/stupid/crazy/insecure your coach may be, if you're a star, you shold always play like a star

Brown sure was a poor coach, but Gasol, Howard and Bryant, Nash and the others need to start playing, because until now they all have acted miserably...

Yeah I don't get how firing the coach would work. What are they even doing in L.A.?

TRANSLATION: Kobe was going to make a demand to be traded out of L.A. if Coach Mike Brown was not fired.

I didn't think he was the right hire in the first place. Wrong type of offense for Kobe.

......and Dwight Howard.

Let's face it, the Lakers need a playbook that will get Dwight going for the first half and get Kobe & Paul to finish it off in the second half.

No need to feel sorry for Mr. Brown, he's going to get $11 mill of The Lakers money for the next three years plus because of his contract plus he may show up on ESPN soon enough to wax wise on the NBA, not so bad IMO.
