Rate the last movie you watched

Dark City (1998) - A man struggles with memories of his past, including a wife he cannot remember, in a nightmarish world with no sun and run by beings with telekinetic powers who seek the souls of humans.

I used to like this movie a lot back in the 90s (most likely due to the dark imagery), but watching it again for the first time since then, it was just okay. star star 1/2 (out of five)

^ 'tuning' nod i like Dark City too.

last movie i watched? hmmm. it's an older movie called eye of the beholder. with ashley judd, ewan mcgregor. spoiler alert: judd stars as a serial killer who captivates mcgregor, who then stalks her as she does her thing. kind of disturbing actually. competently done, just, i didn't like any of the characters. they were interesting, but i didn't like them. when i dislike the characters, or am neutral about them, it's never a 'good' movie in my world. so, i'd give it a 2.5

The Master (2012) - A Naval veteran arrives home from war unsettled and uncertain of his future - until he is tantalized by The Cause and its charismatic leader.

It's a fascinating ride (thanks mostly to the acting of Philip Seymour Hoffman and Joaquin Phoenix) that takes you nowhere. Or perhaps a better description is that you don't realize that it has taken you somewhere until long after it's over. This one had me thinking all night. star star star star

Was a little concerned if it was going to live up to it's hype after the disappointment of "Prometheus" but it does and you will leave the cinema swearing that Joesph Gordon-Levitt is a younger Bruce Willis.

Not going to give anything of the film away but go see it!!!

Slow, in the begining but picked up steam after the crash.

If you watch it, please continue viewing until the credits finish rolling. nod

I enjoyed this movie (in spite of the wolves looking too fake-ish on a couple of shots). I mostly appreciated that it was kind of a heart-tugging movie with a bunch of "tough" dudes.

Not a fun to watch movie. Very well acted/directed IMO. Like "Boys Don't Cry"(which I like better and different subject) it is a movie that is worth watching but once is enough/plenty.

Agreed. Azúcar, "their howling" had me convinced, otherwise. lol

Especially in that one scene when the Alpha opened his snout to Diaz. My hairs stood on end.

I love that hulk of a man, Liam. I'll watch anything he works in. But my favorite character

turned out to be Hendrick.

Just a flash of my homophobia but nearly all gay movies are horrors......

p.s. that is a joke....

sorta.........

but kinda true too.........

OK, Ok Man kissing Man is ehhhh scary...there I said it.......

but as I think about it man kissing woman in front of my face ....I mean that silly big snog with tongues and saliva dripping is kinda scary too and most def ucky but Ok if you are the one doing the sucking.

Ok stopping now!!!

In the final up...The film looks like harmless fun..nice nerdy trailer jammed with stereo-types.

I never understood why 2 men kissing is scary for some poeple....two women kissing yeah, it looks unnatural, but 2 guys, it's the way it was meant to be, so how can it be scary?

As in most cases the unknown is scary

And in most cases , we'd like to keep some unknowns, unknown biggrin

The real truth is, as shown in a hell of a lot of "Art-house" pictures, is that life is full of ups and downs and that we should appreciate does few moments when it's just right. And love, be it sexual or just friendship, is one of those things that should be cherised by alland it doesn't matter then who is kissing who as long as they are happy!

I don't know if it's the unkown, I can get uncomfertable when I see to people kiss and it's not something I'm unknown with.

Ain't it strange, we don't mind seeing people get killed in movies, but get uncomfertable when we see them kiss (I generazile here of course, but still)

2.5 out of 10

I teared up when father and daughter reconciled their differences, but even my kids thought the main character was a complete jerk and we didn't trust him even when he DID come good.

Formulaic and not enough laughs which is probably because it was a drama. The dog was adorable though.

4/5

Really nice movie! A good one for a lazy afternoon - was disappointed Michelle didn't grow her own hips to play Marilyn, but as she said, she got a fat face if she put on weight.

3/5

I read this movie was terrible, but it was OK.

Certified Copy - 3.5/5

105 minutes of two people talking about their feelings is something I'd usually take pains to avoid, but this did something pretty interesting about 1/2 way in, and I'm not sure i I understood it or if it was all meant as a joke, but it was enough to keep me engaged.

I didn't like the way the actors made direct eye contact with the camera - but I don't like that in real life either.

When I saw this at the cinema, I gave it a 4/5. But since then I've come to like it more--albeit without watching it again so I want to give it another viewing to see if it's as great as I imagine it to be. I did rewatch on blu-ray the opening sequence with Juliette's character and her son and loved that simple interaction. The fact that the movie is basically 100 minutes of Juliette's face might be a big reason why it's awesome in my head. lol

I also like that the Criterion cover is an homage to the book used in the film.

Anonymous (2011) - The theory that it was in fact Edward De Vere, Earl of Oxford, who penned Shakespeare's plays. Set against the backdrop of the succession of Queen Elizabeth I and the Essex rebellion against her.

This wasn't nearly as bad as critics made it out to be. The story is total fantasy of course, but I think it's a good-looking political thriller. star star star 1/2

For some reason I was expecting this film to be more lighthearted like Shakespeare in Love when it's really more akin to Cate Blanchett's Elizabeth movie.

Bright Star 3.5/5 bawl

The drama based on the three-year romance between 19th century poet John Keats and Fanny Brawne, which was cut short by Keats' untimely death at age 25.

Children of the Century 3/5 bawl

The only thing more outrageous than French novelist George Sand's torrid love affair with the decadent author Alfred de Musset and her affinity for wearing men's clothing, was the content of her writing.

I think I'd of rated both of these higher but i really wasn't in the mood for all that much tragic love. I was so sad after. Bright Star was sweeter, Children was just plain crazy.

My god. I loved this movie (critics didn't). I had to record it and rewatch it. What kind of infestation is this? I love psychological movies.

Was this real, was this imagined? A mix of both?

It was ridiculous, tragic and awesome at once!
