If I am on a date the phone stays in my pocket. It's rude to have the phone out. Unless you have a kid or sick person to check up on.
99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

My phone is on lock down, so they wouldn't get much out of it anyhow.
Plus, my phone is usually in my pocket/bag/or bra. So i guess it would be going with me. "Aren't you even curious? Don't you want to see the dragon behind the door?"

I say if u have children who live at home...they will either have to understand..she aka my daughter is first in my life if date can't understand ur kids/kids is first then fuck them...I'll leave it on silent or vibrate when on a a date....if u don't have kids then I would say it up to both on what they will do....I mean if there is a family issues like mom or relative in hospital or death bed sorry but family is first if they can't understand then they are not understanding at all....but it is up to the couple n should be discussed on what they think [Edited 10/21/12 1:26am] Smurf theme song-seriously how many fucking "La Las" can u fit into a dam song

I'm sorry but this really made me laugh
I always take my phone with me when I hit the loo but it's nothing to do with the person and more to do with me not feeling comfortable leaving my stuff behind in public places. it's a habit. "what's that book where they're all behind the wardrobe?"

What is the problem? Why spend your energy on something random like bringing your phone to the loo?
Do you want to continue dating somebody who is making a fuzz after one month about something random like that? 99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

That's what I say. I would leave my phone in my purse and just check it later after the date is over. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

You'd be surprised how many people actually take phone calls on a date right in front of you or text fanatically or check their facebook or any other apps on their phone while in the presence of a person you are "supposedly" trying to get to know. It's rude as hell. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

My daughter brought a young man to dinner who texted while we were eating and engaging in conversation. At first I thought he was playing with himself. After it dawned on me that wasn't the case; I told him unless he's checkin up on someone who's near death it was inappropriate and rude to carry on a conversation over the phone at the dinner table. Clueless.

Let me tell you something:
Whenever you are with someone, do you know what being on your phone is telling that person?
It's telling them, "You are not as interesting as the person that I am not with".
If that's the message you want to convey, then by all means stick your nose in your phone when you're out with other human beings. Otherwise, act like a grown-up and put that damn thing away.

Glad you put that young man in check. Honestly, I think in some cases, some people just don't realize to think that doing that in front of others, especially at a dinner table, is considered rude. Nonetheless, whether he was doing it on purpose or was just clueless, I'm sure he knows clearly what the deal is, especially if he wants to keep seeing your daughter. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

My phone is on me at all times.
If I am on a date and that phone rings you best believe I am going to check to see who is calling and I will absolutely answer if it is in any way to do with my son.
Most grown men understand that your child comes first and it has never been an issue with any dude I've been out with.

This is the part I don't understand. Why would anyone care? How is this even an issue?
In any case, I wouldn't look at my phone if I was on a date.
I get the thing for folks with kids and then yes, having your phone available is a must and should be understood. |

Anyone with a child under a babysitter's care would do that.
I'm talking about people who are texting while ignoring the human beings they're actually with.
