Autumn season

This has always been my favorite time of year leading into Thanksgiving holiday

post your favorite Fall things pix poems art stories, any fall weddings?

Save me a soft warm tomorrow,
and I'll give you all my yesterdays

All the forgotten dreams
and desires of the past, Gone!

Save tomorrow and
I'll give you all my love.

Together we'll walk through
oceans of & clear blue skies
to a world of
dreams

& beauty

Save me a soft warm tomorrow

John Keats. 1795–1821
627. To Autumn

SEASON of mists and mellow fruitfulness!
Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun;
Conspiring with him how to load and bless
With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eaves run;
To bend with apples the moss'd cottage-trees, 5
And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;
To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells
With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,
And still more, later flowers for the bees,
Until they think warm days will never cease, 10
For Summer has o'er-brimm'd their clammy cells.
Who hath not seen thee oft amid thy store?
Sometimes whoever seeks abroad may find
Thee sitting careless on a granary floor,
Thy hair soft-lifted by the winnowing wind; 15
Or on a half-reap'd furrow sound asleep,
Drowsed with the fume of poppies, while thy hook
Spares the next swath and all its twinèd flowers;
And sometimes like a gleaner thou dost keep
Steady thy laden head across a brook; 20
Or by a cider-press, with patient look,
Thou watchest the last oozings hours by hours.
Where are the songs of Spring? Ay, where are they?
Think not of them, thou hast thy music too,—
While barrèd clouds bloom the soft-dying day, 25
And touch the stubble-plains with rosy hue;
Then in a wailful choir the small gnats mourn
Among the river sallows, borne aloft
Or sinking as the light wind lives or dies;
And full-grown lambs loud bleat from hilly bourn; 30
Hedge-crickets sing; and now with treble soft
The redbreast whistles from a garden-croft;
And gathering swallows twitter in the skies.

I love fall because I'm a fall baby. I love how beautiful it is outside with the leaves changing, Halloween and Thanksgiving coming and I love that it's not too cold or not too hot...however, the thing that irritates me about fall is when the days get shorter. Urgh.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

The state fair. It always comes the first two weeks of October and every time it comes, that seems to be the first time we notice the weather getting cooler. Even sometimes in late September when we might get a rare cool day, we always say "The fair will be here soon, I feel that fair weather" and football fans say "that's football weather" but when you say "fair weather", everyone around here basically knows what you're talking about.

I haven't been to the fair in ages (hell, they're looking for the same thing I'm looking for....money lol) but I used to love going back when I was growing up. The rides, the food, all those bright colored lights at night, the concerts, and the change to cool weather that always seems to occur when the fair comes.

Over the River and through the Wood" is a Thanksgiving song by Lydia Maria Child. Written originally as a poem, it appeared in her Flowers for Children, Volume 2, in 1844. The title of the poem is, "A Boy's Thanksgiving Day". It celebrates her childhood memories of visiting her Grandfather's House. Lydia Maria Child was a novelist, journalist, teacher, and wrote extensively about the need to eliminate slavery.

It is sometimes presented with lines about Christmas, rather than Thanksgiving. For instance, the line "Hurrah for Thanksgiving Day!" becomes "Hurrah for Christmas Day!". As a Christmas song, it has been recorded as "A Merry Christmas at Grandmother's".

Over the river, and through the wood,
To Grandfather's house we go;
The horse knows the way to carry the sleigh
through the white and drifted snow.
Over the river, and through the wood,
To Grandfather's house away!
We would not stop for doll or top,
For this is Thanksgiving Day.
Over the river, and through the wood—
Oh, how the wind does blow!
It stings the toes and bites the nose
As over the ground we go.
Over the river, and through the wood,
With a clear blue winter sky,
The dogs do bark, and children hark,
As we go jingling by.
Over the river, and through the wood,
To have a first-rate play.
Hear the bells ring, "Ting-a-ling-ding",
Hurrah for Thanksgiving Day!
Over the river, and through the wood,
No matter for winds that blow,
Or if we get the sleigh upset
Into a bank of snow
Over the river, and through the wood,
To see little John and Ann.
We will kiss them all, and play snow-ball,
And stay as long as we can.
Over the river, and through the wood
Trot fast, my dapple-gray!
Spring over the ground like a hunting-hound,
For this is Thanksgiving Day.
Over the river, and through the wood—
And straight through the barnyard gate,
We seem to go extremely slow,
It is so hard to wait!
Over the river, and through the wood,
Old Jowler hears our bells.
He shakes his pow, with a loud bow-wow,
And thus the news he tells.
Over the river, and through the wood,
When Grandmother sees us come,
She will say, "Oh, dear, the children are here,
Bring a pie for everyone."
Over the river, and through the wood—
Now Grandmother's cap I spy!
Hurrah for the fun! Is the pudding done?
Hurrah for the pumpkin pie!

Speaking of the fair, I used to have two Prince mirror prizes from the fair. I didn't have the one pictured above but I had a Purple Rain mirror that looked like the album cover and I also had a 1999 album cover mirror but it was red instead of purple. I had them all these years until I moved in 2010 and they got broken in the U Haul truck.

Speaking of fairs as Vainandy brought up, I'm a fan of those. I usually go to them every year but missed it this year. Our state fair is usually the last week in September through the first week of October. My birthday is the last day of September so going to the fair is something my parents used to take me too all the time as part of my birthday gift. I have a lot of great memories of going there. There are also many festivals in my city in the fall which is fun.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I knew I had a picture of my old mirrors around here somewhere. There's the 1999 mirror in red and obstructed by the view of the black cat is the Purple Rain mirror. That's also my old tabletop stereo I had at the time and to the left of it is just an old record player I kept next to it. I may have not had a component system and mixer back in those days but I was determined I was going to mix even if I had to rig something up. lol

Sounds like the fair comes to my state right after it packs up and leaves yours. lol My birthday is September 25th also so we're both in the same week.

Autumn or (fall in American English) is one of the four temperate seasons. Autumn marks the transition from summer into winter usually in September (Northern Hemisphere) or March (Southern Hemisphere) when the arrival of night becomes noticeably earlier.

The equinoxes might be expected to be in the middle of their respective seasons, but temperature lag (caused by the thermal latency of the ground and sea) means that seasons appear later than dates calculated from a purely astronomical perspective. The actual lag varies with region, so some cultures regard the autumnal equinox as "mid-autumn" whilst others with a longer lag treat it as the start of autumn.[1] Meteorologists (and most of the temperate countries in the southern hemisphere)[2] use a definition based on months, with autumn being September, October and November in the northern hemisphere,[3] and March, April and May in the southern hemisphere.

In North America, autumn is usually considered to start with the September equinox.[4] In traditional East Asian solar term, Autumn starts on or around 8 August and ends on about 7 November. In Ireland, the autumn months according to the national meteorological service, Met Éireann, are September, October and November.[5] However, according to the Irish Calendar which is based on ancient Celtic traditions, autumn lasts throughout the months of August, September, and October, or possibly a few days later, depending on tradition. In Australia, autumn officially begins on 1 March and ends 31 May.[6] The vast diversity of the ecological zones of the South American, African and Australian continents renders the rigid European, North Asian and North American seasonal calendar an imposed cultural concept rather than relevant to climactic conditions. The seasonal cycles as named and described by the various indigenous Aboriginal peoples of Australia differ substantially from one another according to their local geographical and ecological environment and are intricately dependent on local environmental events and resources
