ALPHARETTA, Ga. —

The Ferrari that crashed and burned Friday morning in north Fulton, critically injuring the two people inside, was a gift to the 18-year-old driver from has father.

Channel 2 Action News reported that Akshay Panducherry, 18, of Alpharetta, who was burned over 80 percent of his body, was given the Italian sports car last week.

His passenger, Harshavardhan Patlolla, 21, of Alpharetta was also critically injured.

Oh! I thought the CAR was 19 years old! I was thinking it had some age related issue that caused it to catch fire in a otherwise minor crash....

You can't give a teen a sports car.

I was the most consciencious teen you could ever come across...my folks bought me a brand-new Grand Am after graduating High School. I enjoyed it for maybe a year before totalling it. (In my defense, the other dude ran a red light!!!)

Still, you need to mature AND learn the rules of the road before getting your hands on something fast like that.

When my son needs a car (in a paltry 3 years from now ) he's getting one of these;

My first car (just add a dent by the gas tank, and broken power window on the passenger side), and I was thrilled!

Been a car guy my whole life, at 17 I hit a bump fast enough to launch my 1976 airborn for a few seconds, at 18 I totalled a 1980 camaro. and at 21 ran from my 1979 Porsche as it burst into flames.

That said I decided my own son needed a sedan as a first car

Hey, A car is a car! I'd take it. Picking up a girl in one of these if FAR better than trying to sit a girl on your bicycle handlebars . these are pretty damn reliable too.

YEARS ago, before I even thought about having kids, I worked with this old-school Irish man with 3 sons. His youngest worked in the office one summer, and dad bought him a (used) Volvo station wagon. The dude (dad) told me that he bought all his kids Volvo station wagons. If he was going to pay for it, then he was gonna get THE SAFEST THING OUT THERE. The kid pimped it out as best he could (tinted windows, chrome accents, etc.) and I felt so bad for him.

NOW, I see the wisdom in that. If I could disable the fuel intake somehow so that the car won't go past 65mph, then ALL THE BETTER!!!

Volvo makes very good cars . So what if it's a station wagon. More room in the back to get busy, if you ask me.

But in all seriousness, I would drive that car easily & be happy with it. I'm not flashy when it comes to automobiles. Just give me something my tall frame can be comfortable in, & something reliable & safe, & I'm cool with that.

That DAD needs to get some sort of dumbass of the year award. I would seriously be very angry with him, what a fucking moron for essentially being an irresponsible show-off.
