Workplace Drama Do you have it?
My office is full of it.
Some people haven't realized that High School ended (in one case, 40 years ago!).
What do you do about workplace drama??? By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!

I made a decision years ago to keep to myself at work as much as possible. No drama at that job. The job I have now has only two people there. Heaven.

I try very hard to stay out of workplace drama, but sometimes it finds me.
My favorite is when people infer "tone" in an email. I had one of those last week. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

The worst for me is the drama associated with personal vendettas.
Someone doesn't like another person and suddenly management is getting anonymous tips as to lunchtime deer drinking or lateness, or minor mistakes with work are blown up into major "issues" or whatever.
I am - to a gret extent - insulated from this nonsense because I'm my own "division"...but my buddy gets shit on all the time and it sometimes spills over to me.

I'm so lucky now to work in a tiny office and I'm the only woman (thank god) but in my late twenties I worked at a company where the women were so catty and bitchy and when they got mad at one they gave her hell- just like a pack of bitch wolves from high school - I was never on the receiving end of that until one day when my best friend (who worked there also) and I had a falling out and people started taking sides, it was so stupid- She and I had already made up and one girl who had started some vendetta against me was still hating on me and I was like, "and WHO in the fuck are you again?"

I fire the drama artists.

I'm not going to say that men don't cause drama...BUT...only when I work with alot of women do I encounter such unabashed cattiness and rumors and shit. By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!

Men do not start drama. I have never known of a man to start some catty drama bs. I don't know why women want to tear one another to pieces. We even once had two women get into a fist fight on their lunch break in the parking lot. the police were called. they were fired.

My dept has 16 ppl....3 are guys. Yeah, we have drama.
These women all talk about each other behind their backs and want to be the first to console each other. I call it "rubbin' backs". The worst part is that everyone KNOWS its fake ass consolation, but they indulge them.
These women don't want to help you, they want to hear THE STORY....so they can gossip.
The women in my dept are FAKE as hell.
I don't like a couple of them....but it's based on work performance. I don't like them, I don't acknowlege them, I just talk to them when needed, and they know this. Everyone knows how I feel.
If everything were based on work performance, it would be a much better work environment.
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

tried to avoid it and would get caught up in that and bullying, it took years for me and therapy to overcome the fear of going to work, and it's improved....and the truth is, I've always had drama around me, it's not exclusive to work, so now it's just fuckery and a big game.....and I just think of The Office or Regular Show when I'm stressed and imagine us all being a prototype of someone and then my silly humor comes out
one time someone really started saying i'm going to get fired, I totally thought of benson and came up with a funny comeback that didn't really put her down but made the situation funny for the moment, and a couple of people giggled and the supervisor told her to calm down

I try to stay above the fray but luckly I'm in the position to fire people and shut my door. There's always 2 to 4 people who keep shit flyin'; everything is just fine until their crazy butts show up and then all hell breaks loose. When I was younger is was diffucult for me to say, "I don't think this is the right working enviroment for you." Not anymore, I will throw your ass not under the bus but into oncoming traffic to have some peace of mind.

I'm not usually apart of any of it. On occasion someone pulls me into the drama. I had one male boss (long ago) be the drama bitch. I no longer work with them. I can't stand the drama. Leave it for the stage. Women tend to be the drama at work but men can be too. 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

[somewhat lengthy recall re the topic at hand]
an office queen b - the bosses pet "baroness-bully-bitch." the one who keeps the office in turmoil. (unfortunantly, usually women cause all the wasted time in an office - maybe it's a hormonal thing)
the bbb. better known as the tri-B: 1. kisses up to the boss [get's rewarded and promoted by the boss for keeping boss in the gossip loop] 2. embellishes through citical gossip about (her perceived) personality dislikes of targeted person 3. brings her issues about the targeted person to her own chosen co-worker crew 4. begins to demean the targeted-person infront of others by:
a. leaving the targeted person out info look about new work related information b. walking away from t-person rolling her eyes (for others to see) after talking to t-person c. constantly raises her voice to the t-person infront of others d. whines to t-person about how she's the cause of her work-related stress e. seems to try to make the t-person loose control by causing her anger embarassment and frustration f. seems to be harboring a vendetta in hopes of seeing the t-person terminated from the job
it's this type of happenings i've seen happen in the past at a prior workplace. at first i was afraid to get involved because i knew what was going on. so unbeknowst to all, i went to human resources with documentation (over 5mos worth) and lodged a complaint. my premise=the bbb was causing distractions and interuptions in the office's workflow by bullying a quiet and productive employee. the t-person seemed she was about to have an emotional breakdown. also i reported the bully was affecting the daily productivity of other employees by the constant show-boating of her (obvious) dislike of the t-person. i added how the boss seemed to never defended the t-person, nor repremanded the bbb when it was obvious that an employees was being bullied.
as a result: the company sent in a temporary worker - turns out she was from edd- don't know who called in edd - the temp worker witnessed the drama during her 3mos temp time. outcome:
the "bbb" was called on her action(s), was warned and suspended w/out pay for three wks. the boss was demoted to a lead for 6mos via probation. [wonderful thing human resources director did = did not divulge my name as the complaintee]
i stayed at that job for 1 more year. i felt quietly victorious joyful when i witnessed the outcome. eventually the t-person and i became good aquaintances (outside of the job). she never knew what i did, and i will never tell her. she still works for the company and has been promoted since.
lesson i learned at that job: it is better for me at work to just do my assigned task/duties. be cordial to others and stay un-involved if it does not apply to the job. if the non-work related convo is not about movies, cooking or something artsy and creative, i stay quiet and only talk when someone ask my opinion about the subject. and if someone tries to bring me gossip, i boldly/politely say, "i'm here to be paid for work at my desk," and "for me to discuss someone behind their back seems unfair. maybe that person should be here too so she/he can defend their self" after a micro-moment of silence the person either walks away or changes the subject.
[work place drama is counter-productive, and cause hurt at best.] [Edited 10/19/12 12:21pm] “Transracial is a term that has long since been defined as the adoption of a child that is of a different race than the adoptive parents,” : https://thinkprogress.org...fb6e18544a

That's a tough one. I get some emails that come across as super bitchy. But I don't necessarily want ones that say "Pleeeeaz have this on my desk by 9 on Friday :-p xoxo " My Legacy

I usually get stabbed in the back about twice a year by a co worker. They normally wait till I go on vacation then make their move against me. Dealing with one case of that now. When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

There is only one person that I have to work with face to face, who is more powerful than me, and he starts so much bullshit drama, and in a damn sneaky way too. That is what I hate most about working with men who like to stir the pot, they are all up in other peoples ears and than they stand back nice and chill while other people look crazy.
Other than that, my workplace is usually drama free because I will fire you if you are hurting the team with your 5th grade drama. "Aren't you even curious? Don't you want to see the dragon behind the door?"

I can ignore/deal with the drama of co-workers
the problem comes when the boss/bosses is/are as childish/incompetent as the "dramatic" co-workers
if the boss is rotten, then the rest of the workplace is rotten as well
