Mother beats & glues kid to wall

In the "some people shouldn't have kids" department;

Mom who glued kid's hands...e sentence

DALLAS (AP) — A Texas woman who admitted to beating her 2-year-old daughter and gluing her hands to a wall could face life in prison.

Elizabeth Escalona pleaded guilty July 12 to injury to a child. The young mother is scheduled to be sentenced Monday.

Her daughter was in a coma for two days after the Sept. 7, 2011, incident. The girl and her siblings have since been taken into state custody. Police records show the toddler's siblings told investigators their mother kicked the girl in the stomach repeatedly and hit her with various objects before gluing her hands to the wall. She was in a hospital for a week.

Dallas police say Escalona was mad about potty training problems.

So lemme get this straight: she beat this kid because of potty training? Something as routine as that? Jesus Christ... no excuse. Should have her parent rights strip from beneath her!

No.

She beat, tortured & put her child in a COMA over potty training.

The fact that it was over potty training is incidental - although certainly makes you wanna stick her head in a prison toilet that hasn't been flushed in a week.

Hmm I wonder if she's using potty training as the excuse because like I said, there's no excuse to put your child in a fucking coma... just sick.

Shit like this makes me sick and imho she gets what she deserves behind bars if not the death sentence..... if she didn't want the child she should of gave it up for adoption or yes I'll say it abortion.. some r for abortion some r against it....but either way putting a child into a coma for that is completely uncalled for.

^ Adoption is much better IMHO or at least give it up to someone in the family that's stable enough to raise that child...

Dumb bitch already had 3 kids and another on the way and only 23. What's wrong with people?? Making babies over and over again doesn't make you special, it's makes you stupid unless you have the means ( and I mean money) to raise numerous kids.

Nope, I wish that I were kidding.

I belong to a group on Facebook called Unforgotten Angels....most are below the age of 4. A LOT of them were killed simply because they had an accident and it inconvenienced the mother's boyfriend who was busy doing drugs or playing video games. It happens so much more than I knew about. I cry every time I read one of these stories. Poor things. Completely helpless and totally innocent. sad

Mom seeks leniency for woman who glued kid's hands

DALLAS (AP) — A woman who admitted beating her 2-year-old daughter and gluing her hands to a wall was a troubled teen.

Elizabeth Escalona faces from probation to life in prison, but prosecutors are seeking a 45-year prison sentence. She pleaded guilty in July to felony injury to a child.

Police say the 23-year-old mother attacked Jocelyn Cedillo in September 2011 because she was mad about potty training problems.

At the sentencing hearing Tuesday, some authorities testified that Escalona was known to be in a gang when she was a teenager and harassed her mother.

But her mother, Ofelia Escalona, asked the judge for a sentence of probation.

She said her daughter "made a mistake. She's not a monster. She needs help."

Testimony was to continue Wednesday.

I'm so sick of all these sobs stories about troubled teenage years etc, etc. People need to take responsibility for their actions and stop blaming mommy, daddy, the Gov or whoever else they blame.

Tie her tubes and throw her in jail. Give her kids to someone who will care and appreciate them and above all, love them.

He probably don't have contact with them because either he didn't want to or they (her family) cut him off.

99 years baby!

Ya gotta love the U.S. when it comes to handing down a prison sentence.

If that was Canada, she'd be lucky to do 3-5 years.

woot!

DALLAS (AP) — A Dallas woman who beat her 2-year-old daughter and glued the toddler's hands to a wall because she was struggling with potty training was sentenced Friday to 99 years in prison.

Family members in the courtroom sobbed loudly as the judge announced Elizabeth Escalona's punishment. Escalona pleaded guilty in July to felony injury to a child, but her mother and sister had asked the court for leniency on her behalf.

Dallas County prosecutor Eren Price said the 23-year-old mother of five had not taken responsibility for her actions.

"Elizabeth lies to hide the evil," Price said.

Escalona's other children told authorities that their mother attacked Jocelyn Cedillo in September 2011 due to potty training problems. Police say she kicked her daughter in the stomach, beat her with a milk jug, then stuck her hands to an apartment wall with an adhesive commonly known as Super Glue.

Jocelyn suffered bleeding in her brain, a fractured rib, multiple bruises and bite marks, and was in a coma for a couple of days, a doctor testified at the sentencing hearing. Some skin had been torn off her hands, where doctors also found glue residue and white paint chips from the apartment wall.

[edited for compliance]

Prosecutors portrayed Escalona as an unfit mother with a history of violence. They played recordings in which Escalona as a teenager threatened to kill her mother. They said she had been a gang member and that she started smoking marijuana at age 11.

"Only a monster glues her daughter's hands to the wall," Price said during the hearing.

Escalona asked for leniency, telling the judge she was no longer the monster who committed the attack. "I will never forgive myself for what I did to my own daughter," she said.

Escalona had faced from probation to life in prison. Prosecutors initially sought a 45-year sentence, but during closing arguments Price saidshe wanted Escalona to be sentenced to life in prison.

Defense attorney Angie N'Duka repeated that Escalona was not a monster and that she was deserving of probation or a short sentence.

"She is no monster. She can be redeemed. She can be helped," N'Duka said during closing arguments.

N'Duka said Escalona asked, "What about my children?" after the sentence was announced.

Price said Escalona will be eligible for parole in 30 years. N'Duka said she plans to appeal.

Escalona's family has acknowledged their dismay and anger following the attack, but her sister and her mother nonetheless asked the judge for leniency.

A counselor, Melanie Davis, testified that her sessions with Escalona indicated the young mother loved all of her children and that she would benefit from more counseling. Davis said Escalona has set herself the short-term goal of finding a job and the long-term aim of getting her children back.
