Companies are always on the lookout for talented employees, but those in the work force are also judging companies — and some are more desirable than others.

In LinkedIn's ranking that came out today, the company cross-referenced data from thousands of surveys in more than 15 billion interactions to pinpoint the 100 most sought-after companies in the world.

Here are the top 30:

Other interesting insights that came out of the ranking says:

• Tech is hot: Software was the most represented industry on the list, and Google topped several categories including our global rankings.

• A strong consumer brand helps, but isn’t essential: Consumer powerhouses like PepsiCo, Coca-Cola, Nike, and Disney ranked highly. But so did leading professional services firms like Deloitte.

• Bigger isn’t necessarily better: Big global brands are well represented, but 50 percent of the top 100 are under 7,000 employees.

The companies that tops this list in the U.S. exist mostly in San Francisco, New York and Chicago.

Has anyone here worked for any of them?

I would love to work Pixar. Their offices were really cool (trying to promote creativity and all that).

The company I work for is a "mid-size" company, but it's run like a "mom-&-pop" business.

The work environment is pleasant, I like my co-workers, and the bosses are nice.

But the opportunity to advance is limited.

Unfortunately, not everyone is cut out to own/run a business.

i rather work for a small company where you can get close to the people u work with and for and every one knows everyone and its like a family rather than a work force.

That goes both ways though...in a small company EVERYTHING that you do or don't do is out in the open. There's more "cushion" in larger companies.

I worked for a BIG company and hated the fact that I was a number. No acknowledgement of one person's contributions, we were judged by how the department as a whole did.

Then I went to a small company. I worked directly for the owner/boss. It was cool because in a few years I doubled my salary. But then we had to deal with his tantrums and bi-polar nonsense on a daily basis, AND if you made a mistake, it was like Armageddon.

Now that I'm in the middle, I feel more relaxed. I have the ability to prove myself and get the attention of the owners while still maintaining a certain "cushion" work-wise between myself and the top management.

Yeah, been here 6 years now, and for once I can say that work is NOT the main stress in my life.

It's wonderful when it's like that. There's nothing worse than going to a job where you desperately are trying to find a reason the night before to call in the next morning. I've been there and it's no fun at all.

At my last job (the small company with the bi-polar boss)...at one point the WHOLE OFFICE up & quit on him (all of 3 people, lol). That left ME handling business for about 2 weeks.

Got so bad that & so stressful I lost alot of hair & would wake up in the morning and PUKE. Almost every day.

But I wouldn't mind working for Disney. Their employees get free theme park tickets.

Probably the only way I could ever afford the Disney cruise that my daughter's been pining for since she was 7.

most of those tech places are located over where i used to live in the bay area. it's really hard to keep up with those people. not sure i would want to work for them, the ones i met were pretty rude, and only cared about shopping and how much money they had.
