Title of BobPaisleyPark thread should not have been altered/censored. Good grief. neutral Damn, what happen to folks speaking their mind and allowing others to call them out, if need be?

I don't find Mr. Harvey's particularly funny and I find his general manner to be obnoxious. He's not funny he is annoying. (IMO) Speaking of NPR, they profiled Mr. Harvey-I think last year-where he spoke of developing his "brand". What does that mean exactly? I'll assume he will endorse and push products, geared towards the African-American community. Though if my memory serves me correctly he stated his goals are to move beyond that demographic, as Bill Cosby had done.

As far as his stint as a "DJ" this is the trend for free radio. The sad thing is, all of these guys sound a like. People think Steve Dahl, Howard Stern pioneered "personality radio... for the lack of a better word. In my opinion people have confused being rude, engaging in bathroom humor, and trying to shock folks as funny. The comedians who came after Richard Pryor thought all the man did was stand up and cuss for 45 minutes. "DJ's" to me use to be some of the coolest folks going, now you have asswipes who didn't get laid until they were 25 and got their ass kicked everyday in school doing radio. The shows reflect that... losers the lot of them.

More power to Harvey, to those who like him and his brand of humor.

I was gonna say the same thing about the title, I didn't find nothing wrong with it because to be honest I don't see many white dudes who wear ill fitting suits. Has anyone looked at older black dudes? falloff NPR would endorse that big teethed bama lol

Hell that's because white dudes don't wear suits; they wear Dockers and polo shirts, that's dressy attire for them. lol (tongue in cheek) biggrin

I was surprised NPR would profile Mr. Harvey. Yet again, I wasn't aware of his loftier ambitions. I just don't get him or what others see but different strokes for...

I'm going to checkout his suits though, mature/older men usually know how to dress. lol I ain't taklin' about the pimp daddies or brothers who don't know "stepper suit" are made for that and not business attire. rolleyes

I've never understood why he is so immensely popular in the black community. I never thought he was funny at all. His radio show is annoying, he's left an ugly stain on The Family Feud and although I've never watched his talk show, from what I've heard, it's pretty dumb. I ain't mad at the brotha for doing well and raking in all that bread because rarely does it happen for a black man unless he's a rapper. But I think there are lots of others out there with far more talent who aren't being afforded such opportunities.

I feel like this too. But you wouldn't believe how many women who have fallen for his bullshit advice and spent much money on his books. They actually quote stuff from his book. rolleyes Now I did actually read the first one....most of it was stuff that I already knew and after reading the book, I didn't really "learn" anything new that he was supposed to be "teaching me" about men. shrug Now I just see that his real angle was to make mo'money, mo'money, mo'money. I went to see him live in stand up once a few years ago, he wasn't that funny, then at the end he went on this extra 30 minute long "testimony" crying about how when he was homeless and had nothing to what he has now, supposedly "appreciating" how far he has come...but it came off to me as one big act. shrug I haven't watched his talk show, nor have any desire to...though I'm kind of forced to watch family feud when I go visit my grandparents because they love that show. lol

[Edited 10/7/12 5:27am]

This is what I'm talking about. How can you give that testimony and not mention the elephant standing in the room. From what I understand... Harvey was not alone. He had a wife and kids during this time.

When he left his wife for another... AND beat her out of the rewards of THEIR sacrifice through the years... He ain't got a damn thing to say to anybody... as far as I'm concerned.

I don't like him, either.Several months ago,our Quiet Storm R&B station replaced the regular morning host (a very well-liked guy) with The Steve Harvey Morning Show and listeners were pissed, with many saying they aren't gonna listen to the station anymore.I don't listen to that station either.I can't tolerate Steve's type of "humor".

RIP KBLX! sad

Bay Area listeners are still heated over that switch. Last Sunday I attended a concert in the Redwoods featuring Marsha Ambrosius, Martin Luther, and Linda Tillery. At the end of the concert, the host wanted the crowd to show love for KBLX sponsoring the show and mentioned Steve Harvey, and folks booed really loud. falloff I don't listen to him either after trying a couple of times for maybe five minutes. Barely listen to the station anymore.

I'm not a fan of his radio show either and his time as a comedian has

been up but i did like his tv show however with Ced the Entertainer.

All my female co workers love his show and they all be laughing at his humor.

I myself prefer Tom Joyner's show. The fellows that work with me feel the

same way about Steve that he's not that funny as a comedian but his

television show was good. I get it that everyone doesn't care for him and

all but is all the name calling and the outright hate for the guy neccessary.

As far as the guy who started the thread i suppose with inserting black guy

in the title i guess in and of itself is not offensive but i have a problem with

the messenger. He accomplished his goal. He's also the same person that

tried to get a reaction a few days ago in the music forum with the thread

Whitney died but Mariah's still here. That was real ASSY of him.

Fortunately the mods were on point in locking the thread quickly.

I agree. I dont get all this hate toward Stevie. He doesnt come off as fake or someone that deserves all this bashing unlike alot of other celebs. He does alot for charity, he doesnt gossip much on his show and he seems to want to have positive motivating discussions and cares about issues.

I dont however think he is within the right to call himself the expert of Relationships being that he has been divorced twice. I dont think he should be trying to come off like he knows it all especially when his relationships havent worked out themself

I don't hate HIM, I hate his actions like acting like he knows all about women when he was cheating on his wife and then calling anyone who don't respect his opinion as ignorant. Plus he's a big teethed, big lipped bastard. Big difference. Sorry if some of y'all don't like it but that's my opinion. shrug

The one thing I don't care about from Stebe Harvey is his relationship advice. Nigha been divorced, what 3 times tryin to tell us whe we should and shouldn't do, lol.

Other than that, were it counts the most his comedy. He's alright to me. Not anywhere near my fav comis but he's funny though. His last special had some great bits, the bit about his ghetto niece's webbing, pretty funny.

I think he's the least funniest from his Kings of Comedy group. But out of the whole group, he has surpassed DL in the other venture area. He does talk radio, had a few sitcoms, has a clothing company, hosted Apollo, hosred a telent show (remember Steve Harvey's Big Time anyone?) and now has a daytime talk show which I haven't watched and probably wont, but he does have one. Can't knock his hustle.

About his comedy beefs, he's had a few. His biggest with Katt Williams who I don't think Steve even started. And Steve never even replied back to Katt Williams and Katt still throws salt at him when need be.

Another that has been swept under the rug was with his buddy Bernie Mac. I never believed those reports. It stems from a magazine article that said he went behind Bernie's back and auditioned for Oceans 11. Steve has been in what 3 movies his whole life, so I dougbt he ausitioned for the role. Hell, he said he's never auditioned for a role. The 2 movies he was in (Fighting Temptation and Love Don't Cost a Thing) those characters were written especialy for him. I think that mag was just trying to stir up somethig.

I agree he probably isn't the best guy to give relationship advice and as i said before

i don't even listen to his show except a rare occasion when co workers are listening

to Nephew Tommy prank call listeners. Yes he does charity work and he also takes

black youth to a camp he sponsors and have positive role models to mentor them.

So for all of his negatives and i believe the guy has acknowledged his failures

he does some positive things too.
