It seems the Yankees lost their spirit along with Jeter. If the bats remain this silent tomorrow, Verlander could pitch a no-hitter against them.

The bats were silent before the injury, I don't think his presence in the lineup would have helped much yesterday. Playing for the 5th consecutive day after Saturday's marathon game didn't help either, they must have been exhausted.

The Yankees were at least getting on base (bases loaded three times in game 1) and somehow winning games against Baltimore even though many players weren't hitting. You might be right about them being tired playing multiple extra inning games this late in the year.

My tigers are finally putting it all together. With those pitchers, all we had to do was make the playoffs. Now they must believe that they are the best team. Miggy hasnt even warmed up yet. Good days ahead in the D.
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Many writers are predicting Alex Rodriguez will be traded somehow from the Yankees in the offseason.

Don't believe the Yankees denials, the Marlins are a great fit. Miami is home and the only place where he would be welcome with open arms. I can picture them being willing to take on at least half of the contract, he's reasonable at $12-$13M per year. The guy has to get out of New York, he's worn out his welcome.

A-Rod didn't help his cause, but it's unfair he's taking all the heat - shit, the whole team didn't hit. Cano, Swisher, Granderson - where the hell were they? The hate A-Rod's getting here in NYC is ridiculous.

There's a whole lotta reasons why ARod is getting the bulk of the heat, but the biggest one is his contract. When you make $29M for the season ($15M-$19M more than Cano, Swisher and Granderson) you inevitably are expected to produce a helluva lot more than them ... and when you don't, you'll hear about it.

The team was incredibly unbalanced this season--comprised mostly of home run hitters and they broke the record for most home runs hit in a season. For a good portion of the year they had not won a game without hitting a home run. That's crazy. It will be interesting to see how much of an overhaul will happen in the offseason.

Just heard on WFAN-NY - according to Yankee GM Brian Cashman, A-Rod will definitely be back.

Ownership signed Rafael Soriano two years ago without even telling Cashman, so I don't think anything he says is etched in stone. It could also be a negotiating ploy to get the Marlins to take on more of the contract than they want.

I believe ownership also re-signed Alex Rodriguez to his current contract without Cashman's consent. He never wanted him back in the first place.

I'm impressed the Giants have forced a game seven.

So the only team to not show up in this year's multigame postseason series was the Yankees. confused
