Oh wow...someone else heard of it?? woot! I put in a request on the TCM site. Who knows...maybe someone will have a copy somewhere. I love old films like this. I'm so tired of movies with just blood and gore for the sake of blood and gore and the same tired chop-em-up. bored

I'm a pretty big fan of horror, so I know a bunch of stuff about tons of movies [whether I've seen them, or just heard about them]. I'm happy you brought this one up. It could easly get lost in the shuffle nod.

I think it's all about how it's done. I can watch any horror movie, if it's done well & has some creativity to it. There just seems to be tons of horror movies that lack in these areas, but I'm a sucker for them anyway lol. Most slasher films are interchangeable imo, but I tend to watch anyway, even though I know what's going to happen. lol

I'm a horror fan too. They are almost the only type of films I will watch. I'm a Hellraiser fan. Most anything by Clive Barker I will watch. Even if it's gory. stab I really liked Midnight Meat Train even though the ending sucked bloody balls. razz

But I love Offbeat Cinema because they show obscure old horror films. I love all Hammer films.

And you are right...if not for my mom taking me as a child to see The Devil's Sisters I would have never heard of it at all. So thanks for being such a bad mom, mom. thumbs up! evillol

Here are two more that I love...one of them has Beverly D'Angelo masturbating in front of the 'heroine,' Christopher Walken pre-star, and Chris Sarandon pre-Fright Night...

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0076683/

...the other has Barbara Hershey being raped repeatedly by an invisible 'entity.' (Supposedly based on true events). Those scenes still bother me. Released in the US in 1983.

I love John Cassavetes cool

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0084133/

Shocking, well-made chiller is an undervalued tale of atrocious murder and evil forces.

Small town doctor tries to discover who, or what, is committing a series of violent sexual murders.

Incubus is a tight mystery, with some horrific murder sequences, that builds to an off-beat and eerie climatic twist. The murder scenes are intense and gory, so this isn't a film for the squeamish! The direction of John Hough, along with a bizarre music score, combine to create a dark atmosphere of dread that runs throughout the film. It also carries a kind of Gothic vibe as well. Nice filming locations and some stylish camera work also highlight.

The cast isn't bad either. The great John Cassavetes does a solid performance as the new doctor in town. Also good are the performances of Kerrie Keane as the local reporter, Helen Hughes as the town historian, and Duncan McIntosh as a tormented psychic teen.

All around Incubus is a forgotten horror film that needs to be re-discovered and re-evaluated.

I had to backtrack on Nightmare franchise, at that I only really like the 2nd one. I watched this movie one night after waking up at midnight. WTF! My mouth was open all night and I keep hitting my husband trying to wake his azz up to see this crazy scary shit. eek

The subtle gay undertones, only added to this movie craziness. lol

P.S. Oh, I forgot one, MOTEL HELL shake

[Edited 10/1/12 21:20pm]

falloff I've always found part 2 to be highly underrated myself nod.

i don't have time to list all my favorites, which is likely a good thing because i am into the 1980s B horror movies. like, Troll, House, Wax Museum, etc. some people enjoy cheesy horror movies and other people don't. anything from 1985-1989 rocks my boat.

in general, however, for scary, i recommend the innkeepers.

for cheesy/funny, i recommend slither.

I love the 80's B horror movies the most. nod

I found The Innkeepers to be kinda boring for some reason....I'll have to re-watch that one under different circumstances I guess. I really enjoyed Slither though lol

^ i liked the comic bits in innkeeper, the personality of the characters. imo, too many times horor movies concentrate on the scares rather than character development. so, you don't really care when actors meet their untimely ends. but, you're right, innkeepers wasn't as scary as, say, grave encounters, and others i've watched

I could have just been disappointed by it too though. My expectations were a little high for it, being that the same director also directed The House Of The Devil, a film in which I really enjoyed. I didn't think it was bad though...lol

Let us know your thoughts once you watch it. I'm on the fence about buying it. I have the first 3 movies. But, the fourth one was not that great so that's why I am a little weary about buying this latest installment. The trailer is way too short and that's usually a sign that it's going to be really bad.biggrin

I liked one & two, but the series has gone down from there. I was thinking about watching it pretty soon actually. So I will let you know my thoughts on it. nod
