Top chef murders his wife then cooks her

The L.A. chef who told police he slow-cooked his wife's body for 4 days was just convicted of 2nd degree murder in an L.A. courtroom.

David Viens had told authorities he boiled his wife's 105-pound body in a 55-gallon drum in 2009 ... and got rid of the evidence by dumping some of the remains in a grease pit at his restaurant, Lomita.

Viens had said he had gotten into an argument with his wife, Dawn, the night before her death ... and during the altercation, he tied her up and put duct tape over her mouth before going to bed.

Viens claimed he woke up the next morning and found her dead ... and panicked.

In a recorded interview with authorities, Viens said, "I just slowly cooked [the body] and I ended up cooking her for four days."

Viens now faces 15 years to life in state prison.

just goes to show you just because we live in a so-called civilized society, it does not mean that everyone is civilized. the proof is in the soup.

sometimes the stories are so morbid until the only alternative is to laugh to keep from crying. you're cool in my book nod

It seems like in every century we get one of these stories of husbands or wives murdering their spouses and sometimes either dismembering body parts and leaving them in the trash can heap or putting the parts in the pots and cook them. neutral

Even that may be questionable based on human behavior.

Hello! I'm on the same page. God bless the dead and may she rest in peace, but there is something twistedly morbid yet comical in your statement.

It reminded me of a scene from the film "Fried Green Tomatoes" where a pesky sherriff from out of state is trying to find the remains of a missing person, and keeps nosing around the backwoods of Alabama so much he stumbles upon a BBQ special right after an early "hog boiling time" at the Whistle Stop Cafe:

To quote Cicely Tyson, "The secret's in the sauce"...

...in all sincerity though, how on earth does one cook a human for 4 days without anyone noticing? How do you disguise the scent? What do you use? A mess 'o garlic? Pickling spices hmm ??? I'm dead serious- there are cuts of pork that I cannot stand the smell of , most anything outside of pork chops or pork loin really, and the leg and hind quarter cuts of beef can be potent if they're not ground...it's seems so odd that not a siiiiingle person noticed an obnoxious smell coming form the neighborhood chef's boiler hmm ...strange days, indeed...
