do work worries make you want to smoke?

every time i worry over something and dwell, I just want to take something to calm down, but end up having tea and drink it slowly overtime, though most of the time i want to numb it away

No. Cocktails make me want to smoke - but only if I'm cocktailing with smokers.

I smoke anyway but yes, worries, stress, and anger make me need a cigarette immediately. Also, directly after I eat or when I'm drinking alcohol make the cravings stronger.

nod

I quit smoking a decade ago and going to bar for drinks still temps me to bum a cig and light up. I just order two drinks and a beer to beat back the craving. lol

I occasionally did over a decade ago, but haven't since though I do have an addictive personality and get obsessed and dwell easily on whatever catches me.

i don't emotionally eat, but sometimes i find myself eating a little more too when stressed

i can't stand smoke either and hate the smell though i preferred weed over a regular cigarette, but thank god it was only a few times in my life and when i was much younger, cause if i'd tried anything in my adult life, I definitely would have gotten hooked cause my stress level is so high and I have other coping mechanisms though i have a price to pay for dealing with too much going on in my head and not being able to calm down

and aww i also love bread, pies, crepes and certain foods, especially what my mom makes, and sometimes i eat too much of it and get sick lol maybe it's comfort food...you know which bread is the best? the ones they give you as an appetizer at red lobster, italian bread and garlic bread mmmmm

Ive been a fan of baked goods for years cool. When i was younger i could eat all that stuff and feel ok but now that I'm older and have some health issues, i can't get all willy nilly with the sweets and carbs. Laying off the pastries isn't all that hard but not eating bread is. Especially when im stressed.

As for smoking.

I started smoking cigarettes when i was about 15. At the worst i smoked maybe a half pack a day but most times i smoked about 2 cigarettes a day and some days i didn't smoke at all. About 5 years ago i started to smoke only when i drank alcohol and about two years ago i stopped drinking all together. Since then I've smoked maybe 3 cigarettes and the last one was 8 months ago. Once in a while i do get cravings but they usually only last a couple minutes.

I said all that stuff to say that smoking is a deadly, addictive and nasty habit but it can be overcome.

Life can be hard for most people and we all need things to comfort us. Some comforts are good and some are not so good. As far as the not so goods, I guess its just a matter of picking the least damaging one and doing it in moderation. Doing it in moderation is kinda hard if a person has a addictive personality(like me) though.

Work related stress makes me eat cheeseburgers at midnight then stay out drinking until 4am.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

not saying this to sound creepy, but masturbation can relax you naturally cause it pumps your endorphins and adrenaline and wear you out if you can't sleep

anyways I've been up 30 hours and had 4 caffiennated drinks, haven't done that in ages, but I had plans, and am fighting a bad cold and don't want to skip work so I have to warm my body up. I had tea at home, french vanilla while shopping, ginger tea at dinner and regular coffee after dinner.

Yes, but I don't get to. My building banned smoking in the apartments 2 years ago, so I quit. There are always times I want a cigarette, but you can't have one without starting up again and successfully being smoke free makes up for it.

Congrats on quitting! worship

I am right there with alphastreet... I hate the smell of cigarettes but I enjoy the smell of certain cigars and weed... maybe its just the burning chemicals in the cigarettes??? Who knows?

But I gotta say, there really is something about comfort food...

my worst enemy is that stupid pilsbury baked breads in the form of crossaints or the buttermilk biscuits or cookies.... those fresh baked breads out of my oven is soooooo bad...

especially when I arm myself with fun jams and butters from the farmers market. disbelief

I lost 10 pounds without trying recently... I gotta learn to stay away from bread because in the holiday season I can pack it right back on and then some.

my husband started smoking again recently after quitting 4 years ago. He said it was because of stress. sigh He won't talk to me about it. I don't smoke, I eat and cry to relieve stress. There is nothing like a good cleansing cry, not too long because then I may get depressed, just enough for catharsis.

Work has been very stressful these last 3 months. My clients are not the issue. It is all of the bueracracy that is put in place and we are held accountable for, then wait a change and now you are heald accountable for that oh but wait another change...well you get the picture. I am trying to stay grateful because I have a job and shouldn't complain. But it's getting harder and harder to remember that I am blessed. sad

I used to eat bread all the time for years, sometimes even without butter or anything, and sometimes when I'm too lazy to make lunch, bagels, but also know too much is not good for you. I'll have roti from an east or west indian store as an alternative.

Yeah I guess what I'm describing overall has to do with turning to anything convenient for the moment like food and caffienne
