This is me. I don't care for raw tomatoes, but I'm just fine if they're cooked. I love pizza sauce, marinara sauce, etc.

I can't do pico de gallo but if there's more going on I generally will like salsa.

I'm better now than I used to be. Before I couldn't even take a bite of a sandwich if there was a raw tomato on it - I'd gag. Now I can put up with a bite or two but I'll probably take the rest of the tomato off.

I've been trying really hard to build up my tolerance over the years. They're so pretty and they're good for you. I really want to like them.

So what you're saying is that if I'm at the supermarket and I hear some chick dry heaving all over the godammned place...I should walk over and say 'hi'?!?

lol Yeah, pretty much. I was dry heaving while typing about the oatmeal just now. I have a problem.

I'm just a weird food person all around really.

If I eat breakfast, I don't have to eat for the whole day...doesn't matter where the breakfast is from. If I go to a restaurant and order breakfast, I'm picky as hell with ever single component...every other meal, I don't care about; it's just breakfast. I think that's because the only meal my mom every really cooked was breakfast..and she'd often cook breakfast at night so maybe that's why I can eat it at anytime of the day and be full after I'm done.

When I do drink soda, I only like Coke-Cola in a can...the plastic makes it taste funny.

I hate when my food is touching and anytime someone tells me, 'Well it's all going to the same place.' I always respond with, 'Well I don't have to see it touching in there so I don't care.'

I can't eat raisins in anything. I can eat boxes of raisins but once you put them into cookies or whatever other dish, I can't eat them. It's the major differences in the textures and tastes...it's too extreme for me.

I hate tomatoes but love ketchup and pasta sauce and I especially hate tomatoes on hamburgers and sandwiches. Pickles too but I can eat a whole jar of pickles...only dill though because I don't like Koesher or those disgusting Bread and Butter ones ewww.

I can't eat ice cream or candy bars after they have melted and been put in the fridge to solidify again...I just can't eat melted ice cream period and once a milkshake gets warm, I'm done with it so I drink it really fast because I don't want to throw it away.

I don't like cold Tuna Salad or Potato Salad...It has to be room temperature or I won't eat it. Which I'm told is very bad because of the mayo but shrug I like it room temperature...sometimes even warmed like Tuna melts with mustard. drool

I don't like to drink anything until I'm completely done eating...yeah, I'm one of those people. giggle

I can only drink my dad's Sweet Iced Tea because he puts time and into making it...2 days of the tea bags sitting in the water. I'm a super picky Sweet Iced Tea drinker because of him.

I love to dissect my candy bars and look at the diffent componets before I eat them separately. mushy

Yeah, I'm not that bad lol

Don't kid yourself...it IS that bad. razz

As for the Coke thing...have you ever had Mexican Coca-Cola in a bottle?

Do you have any strange likes/dislikes when it comes to food?

I know people who can't eat tomatoes, but love tomato sauce.

I know people who don't drink a drop of their drink until AFTER they finish their meal.

I know people who need separate plates for their "wet" and "dry" parts of the dish.

Personally...I like the "taste" that onions bring to a meal, but if I bite into a piece of onion it makes me gag.

Waht about you??? question

I know a lot of people who have problems with fresh tomatoes, but none whatsoever with cooked tomatoes. It's not uncommon.

Cooking deactivates certain compounds in foods and activates others. I never eat raw cruciferous - broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage - because the raw veggies contain compounds that depress thyroid function. Cooking (or fermenting) deactivates these. Likewise, raw spinach contains a lot of oxalic acid, which interferes with nutrient absorption. I always cook that, too.

I always ferment beans before using them in food, because I have a very hard time digesting anything with a high phytic acid content. (That's one reason I don't eat unfermented soy.) I have to do the same with oatmeal - though the phytic acid content in oats is so high that I still can't handle that.

I love onions and garlic, but Sweetie is like you - can't stand the texture. I've become a master at hiding them in the food. lurking

I also have one textural issue: I can't stand anything that has a spongey, rubbery texture. So no eggs (unless I make them, myself), mushrooms or ham.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I like raw tomatoes, but hate cooked tomatos. I like tomato sauces but only if they are smooth - no huge chunks of cooked tomatoes. I don't like pureed tomato sauces or soups either.

Not a fan of things that have a spongy texture: tofu, mushrooms, eggs, etc.

I'm a vegetarian - not because I'm against killing animals (I grew up on a farm that raised beef cattle and hogs) - mainly because I've never liked the taste or texture of most meats.

The worst thing, though, is lobster. Lobsters freak me out. I cannot stand them; even the little cartoon lobster on the Red Lobster logo is creepy to me. Lobsters are like giant cockroaches of the sea. :shudder:

Last time I was in St. Barth's we went to dinner (as guests of someone) and were seated right next to the lobster tank, which had just been filled that afternoon. The whole meal they were moving around in the tank right next to me and intermittently the restaurant owner would come over, reach in with his bare hands, and take the live lobster over to the kitchen window and put it in a large glass jar where it waited to meet its fate. Several minutes later I would see the servers walk by with a whole lobster on a plate. : feeling ill Not a fan of crabs either, but they don't skeeve me out like lobsters.

The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

I will put chili sauce on almost anything (with the exception of dessert foods).

Beets will make me vomit (it has happened several times before).

I eat a lot of foods cold that probably should be warmed up (habit from childhood).

If I eat mustard or turnip greens, string beans, or cabbage, I crumble and mix my cornbread in it on my plate. My grandmother used to do that for me when I was little before I liked the taste of those vegetables as her way of getting me to eat them so that's where I got it from and continued it on into adult life even after I grew to love the taste of those vegetables. I used to think that was strange and when I'd be at a restaurant, I'd act all saddity and eat a bite of greens and then eat a bite of cornbread, until I looked around and noticed a LOT more people doing it. I think it must be a Southern thing. lol

That would be me. I just can't do a tomato ... or ketchup. In fact, I hate ketschup even touching my food or my skin. ill Oddly, though, I love many other sauces, etc., that would contain tomatoes... and likely even a certain amount of ketchup.

A few others:

* When I'm nauseated, the smell of cold water is usually enough to settle my stomach. I most often don't even have to take a swig.

* I enjoy coffee, but every so often as I'm drinking it -- and with no discernible pattern -- something about it suddenly leaves me nauseated for a few seconds. And I have to bring out the cold water. smile

* I don't say this to be controversial, but the scent of various salad dressings reminds me of white people. lol I honestly have zero idea why -- as white people don't generally smell like salad dressing. But... yeah. confuse

Not allergic to any food and I love raw oysters...

I eat refried beans cold out of the can.

I eat raw mushrooms out of the carton with the peat moss still on them. smile

I LOVE mushrooms but I hate vinegar. Once I was in a restaurant and saw some mushrooms on the salad bar soaking in some liquid. I thought to myself...."Oh goodie! Sauteed mushrooms in melted butter!"..... and I fixed myself a big bowl of them. I put a big ass bite in my mouth and tasted that it wasn't melted butter, it was vinegar! I immediately let out a loud ass gag and started spitting and drinking Coke and spitting and drinking more Coke and spitting and drinking even more Coke. Everybody in that damn restaurant was staring at me and my friend that was with me wanted to hide up under the table. falloff

I can't stand raw fish, or blue fish...

I only dig sea food during summer (makes sense)

I HATE cooked vegetables (an abomination, in my opnion)

I eat lots of bread with the meat

I always drink a whole glass of water after the second dish-before the dessert

I prefer sweet stuff for the breakfast, since it gives me that extra-dose of energy...

I dig the British afternoon tea (when I have the time) and mediterranean olive oil for the salad/bread

I NEED my pancakes fluffy... and powdered with sugar. Pancakes are NOT supposed to be the same size as the frying pan.

I need my waffles with FRESH fruit, whipped cream and maple syrup ONLY...

I can not eat that shit lasagne that is oragne in color that my mom makes (or any other Latino)

I freggin HATE soupita!!! barf

I dislike lobster and hate soft shelled crab... but I can eat octopus raw and moving.

I need my steak bloody or I can't eat it.

Do NOT put garlic powder on my steak... I will cut you. It gives steak a sandy (liver like) texture and taste. barf

Oh and I hate rice that has no flavor what so ever... rice needs to be salted!

Do not over cook my veggies, my green beans need to snap and my greens need to be green not overcooked to death and looking like dark slimy substance you just pulled out of the pool's filter.

I hate the texture of chopped cooked peppers in a rice dish or sauce. Peel the freggin' skin! mad

Otherwise I am cool....

Oh there is this restaurant called the Middle East in Cambridge and I am highly allergic to all their food. I go into immediate projectile vomit fits if I have anything made from their kitchen.... I am allergic to something they use in all their dishes... maybe a sort of oil?

Go to any bodega or hispanic supermarket...you will find Coca-Cola bottles from across the Rio Grande. Hell, I've even bought Coca-Cola made in HONDURAS!

The big thing is that it's made with cane sugar, not High Fructose Corn Syrup. AND it's in a glass bottle. Can beat that combination.

...and while you're there, pick me up a green candle to light to St. Jude or a blue one for the Virgin of Guadalupe.
