Trading Places

Found this on tv today on Cinemax. My daughter sat down to watch it with me. She has never seen the movie before. She's cracking me up! Wanting to know what happens, laughing at the jokes.

It's so cute!

"Who has been putting out their Kools on my floor? WHO HAS BEEN PUTTING OUT THEIR KOOLS ON MY FLOOR?"

* giggle *

She hasn't seen this movie? It only plays on all of the basic cable channels every two weeeks or so, albeit in a censored version without the foul language, naked women, and in some cases without the outdoor scene at the World Trade Center. Even so, it's one of Eddie Murphy's best movies.

And I watch it all the time. LOL

For her, it's always been "one of Mom's old movies", so she's never watched it.

Its not that complex, Winthorp and Valentine, corner the market by intercepting the crop report so they can corner the frozen juice market, creating a fake bubble with the intercepted report, watch the Dukes sink all their money into it and then watch them go bankrupt as the bubble bursts. Meanwhile Winthorp and Valentine strike it rich by investing against the trend and making a killing. The Dollar was symbolic of the dollar that the Dukes bet against each other to see that they could ruin Winthorp and turn Valentine from a petty hustler to a respectable commodities broker.

Or something like that.

Well the dollar bet was obvious, it's more the stock stuff that is confusing.

I "get" it, but it's rather convoluted.
