Johnny Depp is currently filming/hanging out in Angel Fire, New Mexico. One of my friends had dinner with him Sunday night. Or more accurately, was in a dinner group that included Depp. All I've heard so far is that my friend and Depp both like their hamburgers grilled the same way - but I don't know what that way is.
Riveting news, eh? Let me give myself a before anyone else does. |

How much does your friend want to slip some arsenic in JD's next burger? |

What did J-Depp (that's what friends of friends who barely know him call him) ever do to you?!?
Seriously, his performance in "Don Juan DeMarco" overshadows any crimes against cinema he may have committed. |

He could be the most disingenuous person I have ever heard speak. I don't know much, but I do know bullshit when I hear it. He just gets on my tits. |

I consider The Artists Formerly Known as SextonSeven as the end-all be-all when it comes to films. He sees more films in a month than I see in a year. And, regrettably, it always turns out I've never seen or even usually heard of the films he watches.
So, I would respectfully suggest that TAFKASS list what he has seen in the last, say three years.
Considering that I regard "Animal House" as the greatest movie ever made, TAFKASS's list would be my list of good movies that I haven't seen.
On the flip side, I bet none of you have seen "Alien Opponent" so put that on YOUR list of Good Movies You Haven't Seen Yet.
I have never seen Animal House.
And seeing Ace on this thread has reminded me that for the longest time, I would not watch Woody Allen films. I found the whole nebbish schtick to be a bit of a turn-off I suppose. Then he began working with Scarlett Johansson which forced me to watch some of his movies and now I think he's not so bad. I even kinda-sorta want to see To Rome with Love even though the reviews have been mediocre. |

Haven't read them either. I used to be into fantasy tales like that when I was a youth and then I discovered women. And that was that. I'm now into reading non-fiction.
I hear the final three hours of the LOTR series is amazing. |

I used to be an Allen fan until I realized he makes movies about/for upper-class New Yorkers...
not a "world" I'm interested in...
that's why I prefer the 69-75 Woody I guess...

Haven't seen AH in decades, but - when we were kids - we watched it so much, we could quote it at length. "Zero...point...zero" has now become a sound-drop staple on Stern. |

I love:
Take the Money and Run
Bananas
Play It Again Sam
Everything You Wanted to Know About SeX
The Sleeper
Love & Death
I've seen the rest of his movies, I respect them (even the occasional "turd") but I don't love them,
well I lied, I stopped watching September and Celebrity midway through lol

Have you watched Vicky Cristina Barcelona? " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?" |

I loved Celebrity (except for Branagh's annoying attempt at a Woody impression)! I haven't seen September in ages, but I liked it at the time (thinking back on it, I'm sure it would be way too melodramatic for me now). I seem to recall some good dialogue in a Waterston/Elliot scene and elsewhere. Still like the closing line. |

Have you watched Vicky Cristina Barcelona?
yeah I did, I loved the travelogue scenes in Barcelona/Oviedo, too bad I didn't care for the story at least until the Bardem-Cruz-Johansson threesome subplot, which lasted only 15 min (or less )
the movie was undercooked... and the ending felt a bit rushed and abrupt...
still, it was the best Allen film of the 00s, in my opinion (and no, I didn't like Match Point, it was a humorless rehash of Crimes and Misdemeanors with younger/prettier actors) |

Celebrity was too bitter and cynical, and I despised the characters and their petty ambitions...
September is probably his worst Bergman ripoff... |

I thought it was funny and insightful. And despising (most of) the characters and their petty ambitions was pretty much the point, wouldn't you say? |

I probably have not seen 90% of the movies that have won or been nominated 4 Oscars the last 20 years. Most of them don't appeal 2 me at all. A good example is the "The Artist". There is nothing that makes me want 2 see this movie. |

hmmm, I tried to watch that movie almost 10 years ago, perhaps I'm being too harsh, but I liked Deconstructing Harry better, a similar movie he made just before Celebrity [Edited 9/5/12 8:34am] |

You should give it a chance. It's only about 92 minutes long and what I liked about it is it's originality. We are always bitching about movies and remakes and how they all lack originality. The Artist has exactly that, which is increasingly rare nowadays. |
