The Help

E.T.

Any Terminator movie (I have seen bits of the second one though)

A Christmas Story

Planet of the Apes (any of them)

For some reason all of these movies just are completely off-putting to me. If any of them were playing in a room, I may consider exiting...

If you will, so will I

I'm very, very picky when it comes to selecting films I watch but that's only because I simply cannot easily bring myself into the mood of sitting and watching a film, so when I do pick one, it has to at least have an element that really attracts me (that is if it isn't from a favorite filmmaker of mine.)

It's why I haven't seen films like Up, Avatar, Coraline, Avengers, etc.. despite being very highly acclaimed and also favored by the majority of people around me. but I do wish sometimes that I can be one of those people who are able to put on a film anytime just to kill boredom so I can be more included in some of the discussions that happen around the time they get released.

I remember the last time I tried was when Wall-E came out. I thought it was meh and I've been called a heartless git ever since. lol

see, of this franchise I'd only seen the last film because it had James Franco in it. I liked the film good enough but still not enough to make me want to go back and explore the franchise more.

I've just added Clint Eastwood to that list, didn't realise how much of a nutter he was too until he came out in favour of religious psychopath Romney...

Refuse to see is a harsh term. I never say never. Of course, in this case, these are good movies I have very little interest in seeing:

Scarface

The Godfather

Breakin 2: Electric Boogaloo

Evita

Salvo

Do you mean Salo? I don't think good or bad has much meaning in a film like that. I'm reminded of what Roger Ebert wrote about Pink Flamingoes: "I am not giving a star rating to PINK FLAMINGOS, because stars simply seem not to apply. It should be considered not as a film but as a fact, or perhaps as an object." I'd say the same thing about Salo, I guess. It does what it's supposed to, the film-maker made the film he set out to make, and by that standard I guess it's an accomplished movie, but I don't think it's a movie that needs to be watched and I wouldn't mind if some of the scenes were scrubbed from my memory.

I've never watched Lawrence of Arabia because I've always been intimidated by its length. I've never had a high level of tolerance for epic-length films, and I'm finding it to be more and more of a challenge to stay focused on movies lately - not sure if that's age or just a poor viewing environment, but I just don't think I have it in me to watch a 3 1/2 hour movie. I've never seen any David Lean movies, in fact, but I'm sure I'll get around to viewing those with a less daunting length at some point.

There's something definitely "Org-worthy" about that comment! nod

Just so happens that last night, my buddy mentioned it and told me that it's "funny".

OMG I feel the same way. Everyone in my family keeps telling me to see Forest Gump but I still can't bring myself to watch it. I am not a Hanks fan at all! The only movie I like that he was in was The Green Mile. I despised The DaVinci Code and A&D. I don't know what it is about him but I just won't watch him. shrug

I thought he was amazing in that. It's basically HIM, some trees, and a volleyball. IMO, he proved himself an actor with that movie.

But I definitely did not appreciate him being cast in DaVinci Code/A&D. disbelief He just didn't own that role. It wasn't for him, regardless of how good he may be as an actor.

Was....not is....was. He is dead. May he rest in eternal peace. wink

I never liked his conservative phase, his NRA support and his borderline racist attitude before he died but I have to pay respect where respect is due. Mr.Charlton Heston made some really great movies, some of them being among my all time favorites ( Omega Man) and in the 60s he supported the Civil Rights Movement and marched for equal rights and spoke out against racism.

I don´t know why he changed so much over the years.

The other Republican that I should dislike for his support for the Republican Party but I simply CAN´T is Clint Eastwood. He is a Hollywood legend and a very down to earth, humble and nice man, and I´ve met people who know him and used to work for him. His support for people like Romney and Ryan is disappointing but hey, he´s made some great films in his career, is a great actor and director, too.

There´s a bunch of other conservative actors that I like but as soon as they voice their political opinion I feel a sense of disappointment but that doesn´t take away from their art, their personality or character. But it does leave a bad taste when you consider that they support things that I´m strongly against.....including policies that kill people or put them in danger.

  • Any superhero movie (got my fill with Tim Burton's Batman, thengyuveddymuch)
  • Any 'Saw' movie
  • American History X
  • The Passion of the Christ

The last two I might give a chance if they're placed right in front of me, but I know I'll never come to them on my own.

Also, Kim Cattrall makes my flesh creep, for some reason. lol

When it first came out I said I'd just wait and see it on video... 10 years later, I'm still waiting.

Maybe I will watch it one day and just fast forward through all the scenes with apes involved, to say I've viewed all of Burton's films
