Graphic warnings on cigarette packages struck down

And I say, so what?

Graphic warnings aren't going to keep anyone from smoking. Adults that smoke are either hooked or too stupid to know what they're doing.

Kids that smoke think they're invincible and don't for a second believe that any of the graphic warning label stuff will ever happen to them.

If we want to get kids to quit or not start, we need to tell them the REAL truth about smoking. If you smoke:

- You smell like shit. No other way to put it. You smell like shit.

- Your breath smells like dog shit. And that's being nice about it.

- Your hands are sticky and no one wants to touch you.

- Everyone that does touch you immediately goes and washes their hands because you're unclean.

- Your clothes smell like shit.

- Your car smells like shit.

- Your house smells like shit.

- We are tired of your constant coughing and think you're a dumbass.

- You're a lazy wanker that has to have constant smoke breaks and we think you're weak.

That's what kids need to understand about smoking.

There have been pictures of blackened lungs and shit on cigarette packets in the UK for a while now. It gives you something to look at when you're having a smoke.

i like that idea. smoking is icky and foul indeed. but, do referencs to foul smells go far enough? i only bring this up due to i've noticed that stink don't seem to bug some folks. you've met them, i bet. mr. Too Much Cologne and ms. I Just Bought This Terrific Perfume Don't You Love It are out there among us, on elevators, crowded buses, gyms, shopping malls, church, theaters, you name it and there they are, stinking the place up. and let's not even talk about the folks who have decided that using deodorant under their arms is against the laws of nature.

perhaps we could add to the smellbad deterrent factor something like, say: smoking makes you boring. no one will ever read your blog about smoking. no one will ever friend you or post on your wall since you're always outside smoking. people will not follow your tweets. Big Brother will not seek you out to star in next season's show, and you will not be invited to become a judge on american idol and you will never, ever get frequent flyer miles from smoking.

Put a camera in the home of someone dying of lung cancer. Watching my grandfather die almost thirty years ago is the reason I don't smoke.

I got struck down once.
So I can empathize with the graphic warnings.

I'm not really sure why smoking is legal anyway.

I know folks always try to tie it to alchohol consumption and caffeine and other legal substances, but I don't think that's really a good counter argument. I just don't get why it's legal.

It's legal because it was so ingrained in our culture and society before we figured out all the death, disease and money it costs us.

If tobacco was invented today, there is no possible way any product that contained it would ever be legal for purchase and consuming.

If you're an avid anti smoker it seems some uncontrollable nasty ass habit takes hold of you ;

You constantly nag and whine and basically turn into a pitiful sour miserable cunt that no one sane like being around

because all you do is fucking nag and whine about people that enjoy smoking

That's what the world sees when they see an avid anti smoker

Yeah I mean I don't smoke myself but I'm not gonna bash no one in the head if they wanna smoke. My mom smokes all the time (but only in moderate times) but her life isn't destroyed from smoking. It's like those pandering, almost bullying, commercials about people smoking like 10 packs a day or some shit and actually generalize that that's what "all smokers do". That's profiling and generalizing to the nth degree. But are people questioning the validity of these "smoking kills" commercials? I doubt it. I actually don't care about a "graphic warning" because you were told of what so-called "dangers" it has but best believe it won't stop anyone from smoking. Only you yourself can stop smoking, you shouldn't have someone, like, oh I don't know, the government telling you this anyway.

6 million people a year die because of smoking and yep - they did it to themselves.

But 600,000 people a year die because of second-hand smoke. As far as I'm concerned, they were murdered. How else could you put it?

ah , this second hand smoke crap again

it's FALSE

how can you be so deluded to think that's actually true

it's sickening that they feed you with lies and you're willing to swallow them without hesitation

there have been many studies that debunk that crap

but i suppose that if they feed you lies for long enough eventually you'll believe them to be the truth rolleyes

Yeah. A reason I turned off my TV is because in some stations I watch, you hear this garbage. People are so deluded by the media's lies, it's scary how many believed these things.

Yeah that's exactly my point , and this is what avid anti smokers always do , and it annoys me to no end

I know smoking is unhealthy , but it's my own body and my own choice

Thankfully we don't have those commercials here

Yeah consider yourselves lucky. lol If you're American, you see too many of these commercials. I don't really listen to them. They seem like forced commercials, like people using forced psychosis for you to watch it just so they could pander to you: "smoking is bad". As if that's in the Bible or something. lol

I don't know if the actual government makes those but the companies that do these commercials definitely gets help from government funding to push its politically correct crap.

How do you feel knowing that the smoke you exhale has possibly killed someone? Or is right now possibly killing someone? Maybe even someone you love?

How does that make you feel?
