I'm one of the biggest Neil Gaiman fans I know. I mean, like, I'm one of "those" Neil Gaiman fans. Like, dude says 'Hello, how are you doing these days?', or something else properly friendly, polite and English (even though he's totally "American" these days) when I see him at readings or signings. Can't even count the number of times I've talked to the guy. Dozens, for sure. And Sandman is the bees freakin' knees. I always knew he'd go back to it again (and expect him to do it after this go 'round as well, it's just such an endlss - no pun intended - well of story possibilities), but to find out it's JH Williams doing the artwork just about made me fall over. And Karen Berger evidently said the pages she's seen "felt like coming home". Siiiiiigh.
Edit: Plurals! They matters!

Oddly enough I was never into Sandman even though I love his sister Death and my orgname is taken from one of the characters in The High Cost of Living. But if J.H. Williams III is handling the art then the upcoming series just became a must-buy for me. | |

I know what it is.
And nice to see ya. | |

I have a vague memory of this being discussed before... not sure...
So are you saying you read all of Sandman and didn't like it? Tried it and couldn't get into it? Neither?
I know a lot of people who have had a hard time getting through the first arc, because it's not the highpoint of comic bookdom, for sure. But everything past that arc really is. It's some of the absolute best storytelling that's ever been done in the medium. | |

Tried it and couldn't get into it. I can't tell you which trades were loaned to me by a friend as it was almost 20 years ago. As with many books I may have dismissed that far in the past, I'm sure it deserves a second chance. | |

Why has no one mentioed the best comic in th universe ....2000 AD.
Also picking up ...The Boys, Elephantmen (my favourite right now), Always pick up Powers when I see it (not often enough.....it been there I mean, not thte seeing), Also Irish produced Róisín Dubh, Jenifer Wilde and League of Volunteers.
This is artist Barry Keegan's profile shot of the League based on descriptions by Robert Curley. The team is a mixture of original characters along with Irish mythological figures IE Fionn Mac Cumhaill and historical costumes IE The Archer and Druid.
Jennifer Wilde is an original 3-part comic book series published by Atomic Diner in Ireland

Proud to say I quit!
I still read reviews, listen to podcasts, keep up with some of the news, but I haven't bought a floppy in 6 years!
Trades are another story. But I seem to have given those up too..... at least until I get around to picking up what I've fallen behind on in the last 2 years..... | |

Why would you be "proud" to have stopped buying comic books? I think you're in the wrong thread.
-----------------------
"Also Irish produced Róisín Dubh, Jenifer Wilde and League of Volunteers."
All three of those have piqued my interest. I'll be looking into them for sure.
The last issue of Powers actually said 'We're Back!' on the cover. It was issue TWELVE in the THIRD volume. P'sh! Late books bother Cerebus, a LOT!
---------------------
Crossed is just nuts. I mean, balls out, rubbing them with honey, singing Mariah Carey songs in the middle of the busiest street in town, NUTS! I kind of love it for that. It has ZERO boundaries. Doesn't live within a long car drive a boundary.
Both Midnight, Mass. books were quite good.
----------------------
The Boys ended today.

Of course manga counts. I never got into it, personally, but I'm pretty sure those manga houses turn out more comic books than all the American companies put together. They definitely get out a higher page count.
Edit: Because leaving out entire strings of words in your sentences is not a good look.

So glad you got through the beginning of Rachel Rising. I'm up to issue ten now and it just keeps getting better. I think he's getting more comfortble in the genre, as the contrasts are becoming more evident as the story moves along. Also, there's some really good humor in RR, something I missed a lot in Echo.

Read it! It's one of those books that you just have to read. Even if you end up not liking it, at least you'll be able to reference it and discuss it in whole. But I'd be willing to bet - if I gambled - that you'll like it. | |
