It is 1888 and Queen Victoria has remarried, taking as her new consort Vlad Tepes, the Wallachian Prince infamously known as Count Dracula.

For Summer School (refresher):

For pleasure (although I'm not sure how I feel about it...):

My 70th Louis L'Amour novel. I cannot believe this, but they are STILL getting better and better!

He is hands-down my favorite author of all time.

'Wild Animals' Three novels by Peter Straub.

Including:

'Julia' (Rubbish)

'If you could see me now' (Boring, OK ending)

'Under Venus' (Just started, no comment)

I do not recommend this book. But, I bought it so I'll read it.

Searching to find what we lost along the way.

I read Philip Dick's 'The Man in the High Castle' this past weekend, & liked it quite a bit, though it does get a bit muddled towards the end. I almost never read fiction (just people I don't care about doing things I'm not interested in), but I used to inhale Philip Dick books in my early twenties, and it was fun to revisit this. I bought it as part of a collection of four of his novels from the sixties. I'll work the other ones into my rotation over the coming months.

Philip K. Dick: Four Novels of the 1960s

Next up is 'A Short Course in Intellectual Self-Defense.'

The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

Well, there ya go. I didn't know it had been a book. lol

The movie is very good. They used to show it all the time around Easter - but I haven't seen it in a few years now.

I'm a big fan of Sammy's, but haven't read this book. Apparenlty, he talks about his experience with aliens, so I figured I would avoid the book. Although, I do respect Sammy, he has made a great life for himself and has had a lot of success in various businesses too. His tequila is awesome.

Nah, there's just one mention of UFOs in the books, where he says he believes there are UFOs. No alien stories, unless you count all the stuff about Eddie Van Halen. He might be an alien being.

The book is great. I read it in two days. Phenomenal stories. Hagar cracks me up.
