Classic TV actor. I feel like he could have done movies and maybe been more like a Danny DeVito, but at least we have the Jeffersons and...ahem...Amen My Legacy

Goodbye, Sherman. Thanks for all the laughs and much enjoyment over the years. RIP
I just found this and thought I'd share.
I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

Just a few hours ago I was watching an episode of AMEN, in which Hemsley's character was wooing Nell Carter (whom I also loved) was just thinking how rich the the televison landscape was back then thanks to so many genuinely talented actors . Rest in peace, Mr. Hemsley.

Is Marla Gibbs the only one from the Jeffersons still living ( not counting Jenny and the two Lionels)

That scene where they got into a wrestling match! Sherman brought so much fun to his roles.
I hope that Philly pays some kind of tribute to our home-boy. We used to call my uncle and joke with him that Sherman stole his character...that's how much he acted, walked and talked exactly like my uncle.
Peace to his soul...
Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

I was just wondering what happened to Sherman a few days ago. I saw him in some play about 6 or 8 years ago with Guinwine. Can't remember the name of it. Haven't seen or heard from him since.

He and Weezy were part of my life, The Jeffersons marathon were a great boost back in my deep depression spills when I didn't have the strength to get outta bed. I'll miss them.

Oh gosh I loved the Jefferesons! And Sherman Helmsley was so sweet! In interviews he was so mild mannered and precious. This does make me sad
