When that place opened I was there to see everything. I'd drive over from the EastBay (El Sobrante) just for a movie. After AMC in Emeryville opened, it replaced Metreon.

I really like the IMAX out in Dublin, too. I've never been to the Emeryville theater, though. My one gripe with the Metreon IMAX is that the seats feel like... I dunno, not modern. Its like they were ripped out of an old theater after decades of Rocky Horror showings and plopped into an IMAX. The screen and sound is unparalleled though.

Saw 'The Matrix' in IMAX out in Dublin. Obviously well after the original release.

Dublin is nice, reminds me of the AMC here in SFV.

I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

I said you can't reproduce the IMAX experience at home. I referenced the Metreon IMAX. Know how much that set up is? Including the car-sized IMAX projector? About 100,000 dollars. Trust, nobody is reproducing an IMAX presentation at home. Especially when the IMAX Metreon screen is taller than the tallest wall in most folks' homes.

Interesting. So the 20 plus people that I KNOW personally with IMAX quality setup don't exist?

A typical IMAX screen is approximately 52 by 72 feet in size. You know 20 plus people with homes that can fit that?

Lol..................what ever u say.

In recent years IMAX has been transformed from a company focused on special-venue institutional markets to a global brand for the ultimate commercial cinema experience where theatre audiences worldwide enjoy stunning and immersive images and superior sound. The success of IMAX is a result of continuing technology innovations.

yeah yeah yeah - then I guess the 1% of the world population that have this "Imax experience" in their home won't be challenging the box office #s.

Where did you get that quote because I went to the IMAX website and couldn't find it anywhere.

edit: nevermind, I found it here. Still nowhere in that memo does the word "home" appear.

Americans do. popcorn A movie theater is a venue for movies - sayng that you are "going to the theater" means you're going to a play (live performance)

There is no "IMAX quality" except that provided for filming and projecting onto 72 foot screens.

It is not a viewing standard. It is a method of filming/projecting.

Where is the link for that?

It doesn't say home theaters. It says, "commercial cinema" experience.

People don't have IMAX as part of their home theater system unless they have a 72 foot screen.

The point is you don't know what IMAX actually is.

I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

My only comment 2 u. It is a SOUND and QUALITY standard.

Size is irrelevent.
